We demonstrate control of the grain boundary character distribution (GBCD) in Fe-6.5 wt.% Si using directional recrystallization. This processing leads to an elongated grain structure through directional grain boundary migration, producing a GBCD with a high frequency of both low angle and low Sigma coincidence site lattice boundaries. A thickness reduction during cold rolling of similar to 30% can be obtained in the resulting material. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
