Summary: A proportion of patients suffer from long-lasting impairments after acute SARS-CoV-2 infection. The proposed post-COVID syndrome (PCS) score can improve comparison and classification of affected patients. A prospective cohort study at Jena University Hospital in Germany found that PCS score is capable of objectifying and quantifying PCS symptoms in an outpatient setting. Female sex, preexisting coagulation disorder, and coronary artery disease are associated with higher PCS scores.

Summary: The study found that oropharyngeal gonorrhoea infection is common among heterosexual women and men with untreated urogenital gonorrhoea. The positivity of oropharyngeal gonorrhoea was higher in women than in men and in individuals who were contacts of gonorrhoea cases. Testing for oropharyngeal gonorrhoea in heterosexual individuals can help identify unrecognized infections and guide appropriate treatment.

Summary: The prevalence of drug use and chemsex practices is high among patients evaluated for STIs, especially among men, MSM, and those who engage in group sex. Drug use can lead to unpleasant physical sensations, sexual dysfunction, and impaired sexual experience after reduction or discontinuation. Targeted interventions for prevention and reduction of the impact of drug use on health and social well-being are urgently needed.
