Summary: Clinical experience suggests that wounds in the maxilla heal faster and more efficiently compared with the mandible. This study aimed to investigate whether differences in the proliferation and differentiation of periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSC) from the maxilla and mandible contribute to this discrepancy. The results showed that maxillary PDLSC exhibited higher proliferation and differentiation potential compared to mandibular PDLSC, indicating a possible cell-based explanation for the different healing efficacy in the maxilla and mandible.

Summary: Periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) have great potential for neural differentiation, capable of differentiating into various neural-like cells without the need for cell division. They can be induced towards neural lineage using a combination of nutritional factors and have significant implications for neural tissue repair when coupled with biomaterials. PDLSCs can be a valuable target for research and treatment of neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and cerebral ischemia. They also show beneficial effects on retinal ganglion cell regeneration and photoreceptor survival, and can be used for peripheral nerve repair through the expression of neural growth factors and differentiation into Schwann cells.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of nanosilicate-incorporated PCL (PCL/LAP) nanofibrous membranes on periodontal ligament cells (PDLCs) in vitro and periodontal regeneration in vivo. The results showed that the PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane exhibited good biocompatibility and bioactivity, enhanced the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of PDLCs, and promoted periodontal regeneration by orchestrating the immunomodulatory effects of PDLCs. Therefore, the PCL/LAP nanofibrous membrane has the potential to be a promising biomaterial for periodontal regeneration therapy.

Summary: This study compared the structural and proteomic architecture of decellularized human dental pulp using two different protocols. The results showed that the ECM preserved in the MG protocol was more intact. Proteomic analysis revealed that the MG protocol maintained around 69.56% of the proteins identified in the untreated pulp tissue, while the SG protocol only maintained 28.26%.

Summary: This study explored the characteristics of human papillomavirus (HPV) in oropharyngeal carcinoma (OPC) and found that high-risk HPV infection is common in OPC patients, with higher prevalence in North America, Oceania, and Europe. Females and older patients are more susceptible to infection. Tonsil and base of tongue are the most frequent sites of infection. This study provides important theoretical basis for the prevention and treatment of OPC.
