Summary: The study highlights the reliance of nursing homes on residential-in-reach services to manage deteriorating residents, due to increased care needs, difficulties in accessing timely medical care, and reduced numbers of skilled registered nurses. It emphasizes the challenges of providing care for older people living in aged care, suggesting the need to increase the number of skilled registered nurses in Australian nursing homes to support residents and reduce reliance on external services.

Summary: Young children's levels of math knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and strategies vary widely. Understanding influences on children's early problem solving is important as later math builds on their early understanding. This study examined the relationship between the home environment, such as socioeconomic status (SES) and engagement in math and literacy activities, and children's strategy use during arithmetic problems. Findings suggest that SES and engagement in advanced math and literacy activities at home are related to children's strategy sophistication.
