Summary: Anti-interleukin-1 (IL-1) agents such as anakinra and rilonacept are effective in preventing recurrences in patients with corticosteroid-dependent and colchicine-resistant recurrent pericarditis (RP) without severe adverse events. However, the use of anti-IL-1 agents is associated with an increased risk of adverse events such as injection-site reactions and infections.

Summary: The aim of this systematic review is to compare the effectiveness of home and office desensitizers containing bioactive glass with control groups in randomized controlled trials conducted between 2018 and 2022. Nine articles were evaluated and seven were included in the review. The results showed that fluoro calcium phosphosilicate (FCPS) may be the most effective long-term treatment option for dentin hypersensitivity (DH) symptom reduction in adult participants.

Summary: This article reviews previously described cases of MRSA pericarditis and finds that it is often associated with pericardial effusion and tamponade. The mortality rate is higher in adult patients and is attributed to septic shock, while no mortality is observed in pediatric patients.

Summary: The majority of ICI-associated pericardial disease cases were reversible with treatment, although there were reported deaths. For G3-G4 pericarditis and G2 pericarditis with moderate-severe effusion, discontinuation of ICI treatment, high-dose steroids, and additional procedures like pericardiocentesis are recommended.

Summary: Recurrence is a common complication following acute pericarditis, with available treatments including aspirin, NSAIDs, colchicine, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressive agents, immunoglobulins, and anti-IL1 agents. Correct pharmacological management is essential in preventing recurrences, with colchicine being the mainstay of treatment and anti-IL1 agents as a valuable option for refractory cases of recurrent pericarditis.

Summary: This article systematically reviews the literature on economic evaluation in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) to inform future studies. The study finds considerable heterogeneity in the definition of TRD, as well as inconsistencies in study design and evidence quality. Key considerations and challenges for future economic evaluations are identified, along with recommendations for research and suggestions for good practice.

Summary: Myopericarditis is a rare complication of influenza infection, with a wide range of clinical presentations. It can potentially lead to cardiogenic or obstructive shock. Males and older patients are more prone to isolated pericarditis, while females and younger patients are more likely to develop myopericarditis. Patients with myopericarditis are more commonly associated with cardiogenic shock and higher mortality rates. The majority of recovered patients do not experience long-term complications.

Summary: Pericarditis, characterized by excruciating chest pain, imposes significant clinical, humanistic, and economic burdens. Treatment guidelines for pericarditis are inconsistent, with limited approved treatment options available. Pericarditis is associated with infrequent but potentially life-threatening complications. Recurrence rates are high, and second-line therapies present challenges in terms of safety and tolerability.

Summary: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a global metabolic disorder that causes 6.7 million deaths annually. Current treatments have common side effects, making ethnomedicine an attractive option. Ethnomedicine works by inhibiting glucose absorption and production while promoting uptake and insulin secretion. Despite numerous plant-based clinical trials, few have been approved for use. This study evaluates these trials, highlighting major limitations.

Summary: This systematic review included 33 studies involving 34 patients with COVID-19 and pericarditis. Most patients were diagnosed with myopericarditis and showed diffuse ST-elevation and PR depression on electrocardiogram. Treatment with NSAIDs and colchicine was less common in myopericarditis cases compared to acute pericarditis cases. Overall, the short-term prognosis of these patients was good.

Summary: Anti-interleukin (IL)-1 agents are important drugs for the treatment of autoinflammatory and rheumatic conditions. IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta are strong proinflammatory cytokines, while IL-1Ra can mitigate their proinflammatory effects. Overproduction of IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta is a therapeutic target in patients with recurrent idiopathic pericarditis. Currently available anti-IL-1 agents include anakinra, rilonacept, and canakinumab, which have demonstrated efficacy and safety in observational studies and clinical trials.

Summary: Pericardial effusion is a common complication after cardiac surgery, often underestimated in clinical practice. Limited knowledge on the pathogenesis and epidemiology of post-pericardiotomy syndrome (PPS) highlights the need for larger studies to identify high-risk patients for preventive strategies. Research on anti-inflammatory drugs for treatment shows conflicting evidence, with colchicine showing promising results for prevention.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a machine-learning scoring system based on easily accessible clinical variables from the ESC-EHRA Atrial Fibrillation Ablation Long-Term Registry to predict the probability of 1-year arrhythmic recurrence after catheter ablation for AF patients. Among four different supervised machine-learning models, the random forest model achieved the best performance with a 19-variable version, outperforming existing scores. The final calibrated model, available as a web calculator, showed significantly better predictive performance.

Summary: Thirty years after its description, the understanding of Brugada syndrome has significantly increased. The spontaneous type 1 ECG pattern is a well-established prognostic marker in asymptomatic patients, with double the risk of arrhythmic events compared to drug-induced ECG pattern. Careful monitoring, including periodic ECGs and 12-lead 24-hour Holter monitoring, is necessary due to the variability of the ECG pattern over time. Additional electrocardiographic markers, such as AV block and increased QRS duration, have been associated with increased arrhythmic risk.

Summary: Atrial fibrillation is a common and harmful arrhythmia. Coumel's Triangle can help understand its complex pathogenesis, with substrate, trigger, and catalyst factor playing a role. Anti-arrhythmic drugs have limited efficacy, while interventional therapy is more effective, especially in early stages of the disease, and can reduce mortality in certain populations. Ablation procedures may vary depending on the type of AF and presence of atrial dilation.

Summary: The study evaluated the long-term prognosis of a large cohort of asymptomatic patients with Brugada ECG pattern. The entire population of asymptomatic patients with BrECG exhibited a relatively low event rate per year, with those having spontaneous type-1 BrECG and positive EPS showing higher risk. Asymptomatic patients with drug-induced-only BrECG had minimal arrhythmic risk, but ongoing follow-up was recommended to detect the appearance of spontaneous type-1 BrECG pattern.
