Summary: Acute Oak Decline (AOD) is a decline disease affecting native oaks in the UK, with increasing distribution and host range. In this study, the relationship between AOD and Enterobacterales was investigated, leading to the discovery of isolates closely related to the genus Leclercia. These isolates showed potential as plant growth-promoting bacteria and were differentiated from existing species based on genotypic and phenotypic analysis. New species descriptions were proposed.

Summary: During previous research, strain NEAU-J3T was classified as a new genus called 'Wangella', but unfortunately, the name was not accepted. In this study, a new genus called 'symbolscript' is described, and a polyphasic approach was used to support the classification. The genomic DNA of the type strain has a G+C content of 71.6%. Digital DNA-DNA hybridization and average nucleotide identity (ANI) were used to differentiate NEAU-J3T from related strains. Phenotypic, genetic, and chemotaxonomic data indicate that NEAU-J3T is distinct from known genera in the family 'symbolscript'. Therefore, NEAU-J3T represents a novel species of a novel genus, and the proposed name is 'symbolscript symbolscript gen. nov., sp. nov.'.

Summary: Polyphasic taxonomic and comparative genomic analyses revealed a novel species among acetic acid bacteria, named Brytella acorum gen. nov., sp. nov., represented by lambic beer isolates including strain LMG 32668T and the kombucha isolate LMG 32879. This species has Acidomonas methanolica as its closest phylogenomic neighbor and possesses metabolic characteristics typical of acetic acid bacteria. The absence of glycolysis pathway and the presence of both aerobic respiration and oxidative fermentation for energy metabolism are notable features. Antibiotic resistance genes and virulence factors are absent.

Summary: Two new species of Chlamydomonas-like algae, found in Swedish, English, and Norwegian waters, are described. These species have distinct morphological characteristics, and genetic analysis has led to their reclassification into a new genus Limnomonas. The study highlights the differences between the two species and confirms their sexual incompatibility.

Summary: This study characterized two strains of bacteria from an abundant but uncharacterized group of rumen bacteria, which belong to a novel family of the order 'Christensenellales'. These strains, named R-7T and WTE2008T, showed high sequence similarity in their 16S rRNA gene sequences and shared an average nucleotide identity of 83.6% in their genome sequences. The strains also exhibited differences in carbon source utilization and fermentation end products.

Summary: The Order Pelagibacterales (SAR11) is abundant in global oceans and has multiple subclades. Subclade IIIa is dominant in brackish waters and lacks systematic studies. This study provides a comprehensive genomic and ecological analysis of subclade IIIa, revealing metabolic differentiation and bridging of marine and freshwater clades by subclade IIIa.3. The findings contribute to our understanding of the evolutionary history of SAR11.
