Summary: Four environmentally friendly plasticizer samples were synthesized from renewable raw materials and compared to traditional phthalate plasticizers in terms of plasticization efficiency, mechanical properties, and migration resistance. The synthesized plasticizers exhibited similar plasticization efficiency and good mechanical and physical properties compared to commercial plasticizers. They also showed excellent resistance to plasticizer leaching, making them a green alternative to toxic phthalate plasticizers.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that methyl benzoate (MB) is highly toxic to the agricultural pest, fall armyworm Spodoptera frugiperda, while exhibiting no toxic effects on non-target organisms. MB has comparable toxicities to the commercial pesticide lambda-cyhalothrin against S. frugiperda larvae and adults, with a repellency rate of 56.72 % and oviposition deterrence rate of 69.40 %. Furthermore, MB does not pose toxic effects on natural predators and non-target animals at lethal concentrations. Therefore, MB is considered a safe and effective botanical pesticide against S. frugiperda.

Summary: This study investigated the solubility of benzenesulfonamide (BSA) using experimental and computational methods. New experimental solubility data were collected and a predictive model was constructed based on regression models. The model accurately back-calculated the experimental data and was used to predict the solubility of BSA in potential solvents. The proposed procedure has general applicability and can improve the quality and speed of experimental solvent screening.

Summary: A novel environmentally friendly scale inhibitor was successfully synthesized by free radical polymerization. The copolymer structure was verified through various analytical techniques, and its scale inhibition performance was optimized through static scale inhibition method. The copolymer demonstrated excellent ability to control calcium carbonate scaling, with an inhibition rate of 84.7% at a dose of 30 mg L-1. Additionally, the copolymer was found to change the crystallization path of calcium carbonate, leading to its dispersion in water. These green copolymers hold great potential for oilfield applications.

Summary: In this study, the environmentally friendly gold lixiviant Jinchan (JC) was investigated as a substitute for cyanide in the leaching process. The extraction of gold reached 90.8% under the optimal leaching conditions. Analysis of the gold concentrate and leach residue revealed a decrease in exposed gold and a low extraction of other phases due to encapsulation. Pretreatment with ultrasound or ultrafine grinding increased the extraction of gold.

Summary: The study demonstrated that the surface layer protein (SLP) of Enterococcus faecium WEFA23 effectively protected against Listeria monocytogenes infection by reducing internalization, decreasing pro-inflammation cytokines and virulence factors, and restoring intestinal barrier. SLP also modulated intestinal permeability and immunity, leading to improved colon structure, decreased pro-inflammatory factors, and enhanced immune response in liver and spleen.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2 NPs) can cause reproductive toxicity in adult male SD rats by inhibiting testosterone synthesis and inducing cell arrangement disorder and tissue lesions. Anatase was found to be more toxic than rutile, possibly acting through the ROS-MAPK-StAR signaling pathway. Regulation on the use of TiO2 NPs is warranted based on these findings.
