Summary: The meta-analysis revealed a potential association between IL-28B genetic polymorphisms and response to PEG-IFN-alpha in patients with chronic hepatitis B. Especially, the rs12979860 CC genotype and rs8099917 TT genotype were associated with more significant treatment response among certain subgroups of patients.

Summary: In this study, nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy with TDF was found to be more effective than LDT during pregnancy in women with chronic hepatitis B, and showed no evidence of renal toxicity. The use of nucleos(t)ide analogue therapy during pregnancy did not significantly impact the long-term physical development and bone development of children.

Summary: This study elucidates the molecular mechanisms underlying how HDV interferes with HBV in patients with chronic coinfection. The researchers found that HDV induces the expression of interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs), and these genes are upregulated in HDV/HBV-coinfected patients. Inhibiting the hepatocyte's response to interferon partially restores the levels of HBV.

Summary: Research has shown that HDVs from different genotypes replicate with varying efficacies. Variations in HDV genomes and HBV envelope proteins are major determinants of HDV egress and entry efficacy.

Summary: A meta-analysis study found that a double dose and multiple injections of the HBV vaccine were more effective in inducing immune responses in people living with HIV compared to the standard dose. Participants with higher CD4+ T-cell levels showed better vaccine response rates, highlighting the importance of timely HBV vaccination in individuals infected with HIV.

Summary: Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients treated with interferon show differential treatment responses, possibly due to the interferon-inducible effector, TRIM22. TRIM22 is highly expressed in interferon-responsive patients and negatively correlated with HBV DNA and HBeAg serum levels. Overexpressing TRIM22 reduces HBsAg, HBeAg, and HBV DNA, while knocking down TRIM22 increases these markers.

Summary: This study identifies a novel treatment approach for chronic hepatitis B by inhibiting HBV replication through RNA interference. The results show that AAV8-amiRNA135 has anti-HBV effects in vivo, and these effects are time and dose-dependent.

Summary: This study systematically summarized the prevalence of HIV, HBV, and HCV infections among incarcerated people in Iran. The results showed that the prevalences of these infections are relatively high in this population. Meta-analysis and regression analysis found a decrease in HIV and HCV infections over time.

Summary: The use of anti-HBc-positive donors for liver transplantation does not affect patient survival rates, while HBIG monoprophylaxis effectively reduces the risk of DNH. Furthermore, the long-term cost burden for patients in Korea is lower due to the national insurance system.

Summary: The study found that patients with HDV infection had earlier and more frequent clinical complications compared to HBV. However, in cirrhotic patients, there were no significant differences between HBV and HDV in the development of liver-related end points, but CHB patients with cirrhosis were more likely to develop HCC than CHD patients with cirrhosis.

Summary: There are ongoing efforts to develop long-acting antiviral compounds for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B, including injection and implant approaches. These compounds have the potential to replace existing anti-HBV drugs. Significant progress has been made, especially in the development of long-acting tenofovir-based medications with dual activity against HIV and HBV. However, there are still substantial challenges to overcome before these drugs become available.

Summary: A combination of hepatitis B vaccination and immunoglobulin significantly reduces the risk of vertical transmission of hepatitis B virus. Maternal tenofovir further reduces the transmission risk for mothers positive for both hepatitis B surface and envelope antigens. However, no additional agents provide further benefit for infants of mothers with mixed, unknown, or negative hepatitis B envelope antigen status compared to hepatitis B vaccination alone.

Summary: This study investigates the evolution of HBV during tenofovir treatment and identifies potential resistance mutations. The findings suggest that changes at a conserved residue 35 in the HBV RT may be associated with tenofovir resistance. Further studies are needed to assess resistance in vitro and in vivo.

Summary: The study found that three H19 polymorphisms were associated with hepatoblastoma susceptibility in a Chinese Han population. Specifically, rs2839698 and rs3024270 polymorphisms increased the risk, while rs217727 polymorphism decreased the risk of hepatoblastoma. Other factors such as age, gender, and clinical stage were also associated with increased susceptibility to hepatoblastoma.
