Summary: This study compared survival outcomes in 1360 patients with early-stage breast cancer, showing that patients treated with breast-conserving therapy had lower rates of recurrence and equivalent overall survival compared to those treated with mastectomy alone. The findings emphasize the importance of adjuvant treatments, including radiation therapy, in improving disease-specific outcomes for early-stage breast cancer patients.

Summary: This study investigated different treatment strategies for elderly patients with stage I pancreatic cancer. The results showed that surgical resection and post-operative chemotherapy are recommended for patients who can tolerate treatment, but post-operative chemoradiotherapy does not provide survival benefits compared to post-operative chemotherapy. For untreated patients, radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or the combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy are significantly related to prognosis, with chemoradiotherapy having the most obvious benefit.

Summary: The study found that in early-stage HER2+ breast cancer patients, omitting radiation therapy is associated with a higher risk of death, and there are potential selection biases that should be taken into consideration, cautioning against omitting radiation therapy in these patients.

Summary: A retrospective cohort study comparing preoperative and postoperative radiotherapy for breast cancer patients revealed that the preoperative radiotherapy group had significantly higher risks of overall mortality and breast cancer-specific mortality. Survival differences were correlated with stage, molecular subtypes, and other risk factors. Despite postoperative radiotherapy remaining the primary treatment, preoperative radiotherapy has theoretical advantages worth further exploration.

Summary: Breast conservation surgery (BCS) has shown superiority over mastectomy in treating early-stage adenoid cystic carcinoma of the breast (BACC). Comparing overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) between BCS and mastectomy groups, it was found that BCS achieved higher 10-year OS and DSS rates for stage I/II BACC.

Summary: This case series and literature review suggest that definitive ablative radiation therapy may serve as a safe and effective treatment option for non-operable patients with early stage breast cancer. The observed durable treatment responses and minimal toxicity support the potential of this approach.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of high-dose radiation therapy for positive margins in breast cancer surgery and compare the local recurrence between patients with positive and negative margins. The results showed that positive margins were not associated with poor local control in older patients after a high-dose boost, but had higher risk of local recurrence in younger patients.

Summary: The 5-year outcomes of TARGIT IORT in treating early-stage breast cancer patients demonstrated high rates of local recurrence, exceeding those seen with alternative modern approaches. Although local recurrence rates with IORT are lower than with radiation following surgery, the results are more consistent with studies omitting radiation and using endocrine therapy alone.

Summary: Facilities with higher use of SBRT for surgery in patients with early stage NSCLC showed lower rates of postoperative mortality. These findings suggest that the availability and use of SBRT may improve the selection of patients predicted to be at high risk of postoperative mortality.

Summary: MRI-guided partial breast radiotherapy is a feasible and potentially impactful application of MRgRT. Precision Prone Irradiation (PPI) has the potential to improve the therapeutic index of breast radiotherapy by more accurately delivering radiation dose to the surgical cavity and reducing toxicities to surrounding normal tissues. Prospective clinical data and technical refinements are needed to further expand the clinical implementation of this novel technology.

Summary: In this study, it was found that for older women with early-stage ER+/HER2- breast cancer, adjuvant RT and HT monotherapy both reduce the risk of locoregional recurrence, with a slightly better outcome for the combination therapy. Distant recurrence and breast cancer-specific survival rates did not significantly differ between the treatment groups. Further research is needed to determine the optimal treatment approach for these patients.

Summary: In patients aged 80 years or older with stage I NSCLC, lobectomy offers better survival outcomes compared to SBRT, especially in those with no comorbidities. The number of lymph nodes examined during lobectomy, as well as age, sex, high grade, and tumor size, were found to be independent predictors of survival.

Summary: This study reported experiences with Intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT) among breast cancer patients in a region with limited facilities. A total of 252 patients were included, with 3.1% experiencing recurrence during follow-up. The study highlighted the importance of modified patient selection criteria for IORT in limited resource settings.
