Summary: This study examines the associations of weight change and waist circumference changes with all-cause and cause-specific mortality among older adults. The results suggest that weight loss is associated with an increased risk of mortality, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and other life-limiting conditions.

Summary: It remains uncertain whether individuals with overweight or obesity can lose weight and improve cardiometabolic risk factors over time in real-world settings. This study used data from 11 large health systems in the U.S. to investigate the management and degree of body weight change over 2 years among adults with BMI >= 25 kg/m2. The findings showed that the majority of individuals maintained stable weight, weight loss pharmacotherapy was under-utilized, and small improvements in cardiometabolic risk factors were not sustained.

Summary: This study examined trends in weight change patterns and disparities based on sex and racial/ethnic background among US adults from 1988 to 2018. The findings suggest that more young people born in later years are experiencing obesity and accumulating greater obesity exposure throughout their lives compared to those born in earlier years.

Summary: This study found that weight changes during adulthood are associated with leukocyte telomere length, suggesting that weight gain may promote aging among adults. The results showed that stable obesity, weight gain from non-obesity to obesity, and transitions from normal weight to overweight were all linked to shorter telomere length, with variations across sex and race/ethnicity.

Summary: The associations between anthropometric factors and breast cancer risk vary inconsistently by estrogen and progesterone receptor status. Height, body mass index, adult weight gain show different strengths and directions of associations with breast cancer risk.

Summary: This study aimed to develop equations for estimating growth of dairy heifers based on measures of withers height, body weight, and age. Four models were constructed and evaluated, showing that body weight and the body weight-to-height ratio increase linearly with age, while body weight follows an exponential growth pattern based on height. The model also predicted that heifers reach a maximum height of 138.6 cm at 806 days of age.

Summary: Attending a high-performing public charter high school is associated with lower rates of substance use disorder and better physical health outcomes, particularly for young men. However, young women in the intervention group had worse physical health outcomes for unclear reasons.

Summary: This study uses satellite radar altimetry for the first time to investigate the worldwide linear trends in tidal harmonic constants. The results show both statistically significant increases and decreases in amplitude, as well as significant phase changes. The level of agreement between the satellite-derived trends and tide gauge data varies by region and tide.

Summary: Stunting and extreme poverty are significant risk factors affecting child development in low-and-middle-income countries. Two birth cohorts conducted in urban low-income settings in south India showed that socioeconomic status, birth weight, and gender were associated with growth trends in children.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on weight change in children and adults, finding that obesity risk factors have increased during this period. Both children and adults experienced increases in weight, BMI, and prevalence of obesity, with greater increases observed in children. This highlights the significant impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on obesity.

Summary: This study aimed to estimate the adjusted effect of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) on weight change. Based on the analysis of 8 studies, it was found that individuals with MDD experienced greater weight change and had a higher likelihood of developing obesity. These findings highlight the importance of weight tracking and management in clinical settings for individuals with MDD.

Summary: In Poland, there has been a positive secular trend in children's height over the past nearly 50 years. Socio-economic status has a significant impact on height, with differences in height between SES categories decreasing gradually over time. Despite improvements in living conditions, social inequalities still have biological effects on height differences in Poland.
