Summary: This study investigated the levels of CFH and CFH-binding hemoglobin in LuTx patients and found that CFH may be associated with postoperative AKI. Moreover, experimental studies on a mouse model of mild renal ischemia reperfusion injury confirmed the role of CFH in promoting AKI. Targeting CFH may be a therapeutic option to prevent AKI after LuTx.

Summary: Early post-operative AKI after lung transplantation may be associated with higher baseline eGFR and TAC concentrations. AKI patients experienced longer mechanical ventilation and ICU stay days. AKI stage 2-3 patients had a higher risk of 1-year mortality.

Summary: This study compared the effects of sevoflurane and propofol anesthesia on acute kidney injury (AKI) following lung transplantation surgery. The results showed that propofol anesthesia reduced the incidence of AKI compared to sevoflurane anesthesia, and was associated with lower levels of NGAL and IL-6. AKI occurrence was also found to be related to a lower 5-year survival rate.

Summary: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common and serious complication following lung transplantation (LTx), and it is associated with high mortality and morbidity. This study found that AKI is related to several perioperative factors and clinical outcomes, and persistent and severe AKI are associated with decreased kidney function and reduced survival in LTx patients.

Summary: The occurrence of AKI is common in cystic fibrosis patients undergoing lung transplantation, often progressing to AKD and CKD, which significantly impacts both short-term and long-term outcomes.

Summary: The study found that the preoperative ATIII level is associated with postoperative AKI after LT, with a higher ATIII level correlating with a lower incidence of post-LT AKI. This suggests that preoperative ATIII may serve as a prognostic factor for predicting post-LT AKI.

Summary: Acute Page kidney (APK) in kidney transplantation is a rare complication, with percutaneous angioplasty being a potential cause. This study describes four cases of APK following percutaneous angioplasty for transplant renal artery stenosis, with varying outcomes.

Summary: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is common in kidney donors and recipients, and can lead to delayed graft function (DGF). Early AKI may result in serious complications, while late AKI is often related to nephrotoxic drug reactions, both requiring prompt intervention.

Summary: Acute kidney injury (AKI) is associated with adverse long-term outcomes, including kidney disease progression, heart failure episodes, and mortality. The study found that AKI is strongly associated with kidney disease progression and further episodes of AKI increase the risk for progression. However, the association with mortality and heart failure becomes insignificant when adjusted for three-month kidney function and albumin:creatinine ratio.

Summary: A study on 2,556 hospitalized AKI patients in three tertiary hospitals in China in 2015 found that AKD is common among these patients. AKD stage 2-3 provides additional predictive value for adverse outcomes at 30 days and one year compared to AKD stage 0.

Summary: The study showed that post-endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) acute kidney injury (AKI) has a high incidence and is associated with various factors, including estimated glomerular filtration rate, nonrenal Charlson Comorbidity Index, choledocholithiasis, and bilirubin. Post-ERCP AKI not only prolonged hospital stay but also increased in-hospital mortality, especially moderate-to-severe AKI is an independent risk factor for in-hospital mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of kidney transplantation from donors with acute kidney injury (AKI) on long-term graft survival and found that AKI in donor did not affect long-term death-censored graft survival. Among recipients receiving kidneys with AKI, using low-dose r-ATG as an induction immunosuppression may offer better graft survival compared to basiliximab.
