Summary: Colorectal cancer is the third most diagnosed cancer in the US with low survival rates and liver metastasis being a common occurrence. Vigil, an immunotherapy, combined with FOLFOX-6 chemotherapy showed remarkable results in two patients, with no disease recurrence after over eight years. Both patients also exhibited systemic immune response to Vigil therapy.

Summary: This study compared the histopathological responses of liver-limited colorectal metastases in patients who received different chemotherapy regimens and found differences between bevacizumab and cetuximab in terms of histological response. The study also showed that tumor regression grade (TRG) and dangerous halo (DH) are associated with prognosis.

Summary: The study found that the CE patterns and SI ratio parameters on the hepatobiliary phase are useful indicators for evaluating therapeutic response in patients with colorectal liver metastases. Rim enhancement was more frequent in the responding group, and parameters such as diameter, CE patterns, and SI ratios had significant associations with chemotherapy response.

Summary: This study investigated a radiomics model for predicting the prognosis of patients with colorectal liver metastases treated with bevacizumab-containing chemotherapy. The results showed that the HGP diagnosed using this model can be an effective predictor of patient survival, with the D pattern indicating a significantly longer progression-free survival compared to the R pattern or mixed patterns.

Summary: This study evaluated the variability in assessing resectability and local treatment planning for patients with initially unresectable colorectal cancer liver metastases. The results showed differences and disagreements in the evaluations, highlighting the need for consensus guidelines to prevent unwarranted variability in clinical practice.

Summary: In patients with colorectal liver metastases, mixed pathologic response is possible in multiple metastases. Patients with mixed response have higher survival rates compared to other pathologic responses, suggesting that the greatest response achieved in any metastasis is the best predictor of survival.

Summary: In the clinical management of liver metastasis of colorectal cancer, surgeons and oncologists categorize the metastasis into resectable and non-resectable groups to initiate tailored therapeutics. The combination of targeted therapies and biotherapies around these two entities is being actively explored to determine the ideal conditions for their application to improve patient survival and quality of life.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the expression levels and prognostic roles of MMR, Ki67, and LVI in colorectal liver metastases (CRLM). The study found that MMR, Ki67, and LVI were significantly correlated with prognosis. Multivariate analysis showed that higher serum CA199 levels, N1-2 stage, the presence of LVI, higher Ki67, and pMMR all predicted worse overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in CRLM patients. A nomogram model was constructed to predict the OS of these patients after liver metastasis surgery.

Summary: The study investigated the beneficial effects of a secretome derived from gamma-irradiated PBMCs on tissue survival, angiogenesis, and clinical parameters after flap surgery in a rodent epigastric flap model. Significant reductions in tissue necrosis rate and increased vessel counts were observed with PBMCsec treatment, suggesting its potential as a therapeutic approach in reconstructive surgery. Seroma formation was also decreased after treatment with fibrin sealant with or without the addition of PBMCsec, indicating improved outcomes post-surgery.

Summary: This study compared the use of VEGF and EGFR antibodies in the treatment of synchronous metastasized colorectal cancer patients. The results showed that patients treated with VEGF antibodies had a better pathological response of the primary tumor and longer recurrence-free survival compared to those treated with EGFR antibodies. There was no difference in overall survival.
