Summary: A systematic literature search was conducted to identify potential confounders for outcome prediction using pupillary light reflex in adult critically ill patients as measured by handheld automated pupillometry devices. The highest level of evidence came from randomized trials and prospective observational studies, mainly focusing on the potential confounding effects of pain, opioid use, and increased intracranial pressure. Additional potential confounders such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, alpha 2-adrenergic receptor agonists, and NMDA antagonists were also found.

Summary: This study systematically synthesized the views of community-dwelling Asians on advance care planning (ACP) and summarized the factors and reasons affecting their uptake of ACP. The findings showed that although Asian adults in the community were willing to engage in ACP, their awareness and uptake of ACP remained low. Background factors such as sociodemographic factors and health status, as well as underlying beliefs and attitudes towards ACP, were found to influence their uptake of ACP.

Summary: We review the literature on technological change and employment over the past four decades, distinguishing between five broad technology categories. We find that the labor displacing effect of technology is offset by compensating mechanisms that create or reinstate labor. This suggests that concerns over widespread technology-driven unemployment lack empirical evidence. However, blue-collar workers have been negatively affected by technological change, highlighting the need for effective upskilling and reskilling strategies and targeted support systems in policy making.

Summary: The concept of digital entrepreneurial ecosystems (DEEs) has been developed to analyze entrepreneurship in the digital age. However, research on DEEs is still fragmented and there is ambiguity in this field. To create a comprehensive understanding of DEEs, we conducted a systematic literature review and proposed a conceptual framework that presents a set of characteristics corresponding to principal ecosystem attributes. Our framework offers an inclusive picture of different types of DEEs and suggests potential avenues for future research.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) compared to opioid-based anesthesia (OBA) in cancer patients undergoing surgery. Only two eligible studies were found, with significant heterogeneity in outcomes. The results could not confirm or reject the ability of OFA to improve early postoperative outcomes in cancer surgery. More studies are needed with consistent methodology and endpoints.

Summary: This article reviews and analyzes the concept of sufficiency, focusing on its linkages to different economic scales and economic actors. The study finds that sufficiency is both an end and a means for bringing consumption and production within ecological limits. The research highlights the need for empirical work to understand the contextual varieties in the operationalization of sufficiency.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the health and quality of life of veterans with posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE) and their caregivers, as well as the impact of caring for someone with PTE on the caregivers themselves. The study will longitudinally compare support and unmet needs among caregivers and identify characteristics associated with the health trajectories of caregivers and veterans with PTE. This research is clinically and policy relevant, as it will provide insights to support and provide better services for caregivers.

Summary: Since the emergence of SARS-CoV-2, maintaining the health and safety of healthcare workers has been crucial in addressing the global pandemic. Vaccination with mRNA-based vaccines targeting the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 has been identified as an important strategy in reducing the susceptibility of healthcare workers to the virus. However, neutralizing antibody responses may decrease over time and can be influenced by various factors. This study aimed to examine the relationship between vaccine products, prior clinical illness from SARS-CoV-2, vaccine-associated adverse reactions, and the decay of antibodies over time in healthcare workers at a university medical center. The findings showed that vaccination with mRNA-1273 resulted in more sustained antibody responses compared to bnt162b2. Individuals who experienced vaccine-associated symptoms were more likely to have a prolonged neutralizing antibody response. Those who had previous clinical infection with SARS-CoV-2 before vaccination were more likely to experience vaccine-associated symptoms after the first dose and had a less significant decline in antibodies. Understanding these factors can assist clinicians in determining effective vaccine strategies for healthcare workers.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of military sexual trauma (MST) on veterans' employment and found a relationship between resilience and employment among veterans exposed to MST. The results showed that higher resilience was associated with increased odds of employment for both MST(+) women and men veterans, while resilience was not associated with employment for MST(-) veterans. Therefore, improving veterans' resilience levels may be important for enhancing long-term outcomes such as employment.

Summary: This study assessed the effectiveness of employment program components in increasing employability among military veterans during career and identity transitions. It identified several content and process components, such as interviewing skills and working with a mentor/coach, that influenced job attainment. Having a mentor/coach was found to be the most effective delivery strategy, leading to higher rates of job finding. Risk factors such as rank, combat exposure, combat arms occupation, and physical health problems were identified as predictors of lower use of employment program components.
