Summary: The study aimed to define an optimized HIDA scan protocol for detecting bile reflux in post-OAGB patients. The study found that more than half of the patients had bile reflux, and the severity of bile reflux was correlated with symptoms of vomiting, heartburn, and regurgitation.

Summary: This case report presents a patient with a bile leak, which was more clearly identified on dynamic hepatobiliary scintigraphy compared to concurrently acquired MRI. Reviewing early dynamic images is important in potentially identifying the source of a bile leak.

Summary: Laparoscopic cholecystectomy in patients with biliary symptoms, negative ultrasound, and elevated EF on HIDA scan (EF > 80%) led to a significant rate of symptomatic relief, with unexpected pathologic findings in 94% of patients.

Summary: In this study, a model based on the Tokyo Guidelines 2018 was developed to predict HIDA scan results for acute cholecystitis. Factors such as gender, age, clinical signs, and ultrasound findings were associated with positive HIDA results. This model could help identify patients who may not need a HIDA scan for diagnosis of AC.

Summary: According to a recent estimate by the World Health Organization, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic has affected nearly 100 million people globally, with patients with chronic liver diseases (CLD) at higher risk of infections. Vaccination against various pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, is important for these patients, although impaired immune responses may affect the efficacy of immunization. The safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines in patients with CLD, cirrhosis, hepatobiliary cancer, and liver transplant recipients still require further study.

Summary: This study examined changes in T-cell phenotype and function in HIV+ and HIV- patients undergoing immunosuppressive treatment after orthotopic liver transplant (OLT). The findings showed that HIV- transplant patients had more exhausted or inflammatory T cells compared to HIV+ transplant patients, potentially due to previous immunosuppression from HIV infection.

Summary: Recent studies suggest that incorporating a noninvasive and low-cost functional test is more reliable than considering liver volume alone in predicting liver failure posthepatectomy, especially with advancements in liver regeneration techniques. This case report details a unique case of a 40-year-old male who underwent heterotopic liver transplantation, with hepatobiliary scintigraphy performed to monitor graft function and regeneration prior to native liver removal.

Summary: Immune regulation plays a crucial role in cancer development, especially in organs like the liver and gastrointestinal tract that are constantly exposed to environmental pathogens. Chronic liver inflammation can lead to hepatobiliary cancers, including HCC, iCCA, and cHCC-CCA. This review discusses the relationship between oxidative stress, immune response in the liver, hepatocyte damage, proliferation, and the initiation and sustainment of cancer, as well as new anticancer therapies based on immunomodulation.

Summary: Central nervous system infections in adults are rare, especially among liver transplant recipients who have a higher risk of opportunistic infections due to immunosuppressive therapy. Early diagnosis and timely treatment are crucial for successful management. This article presents two cases of intracerebral opportunistic infections after liver transplantation, with different clinical presentations. Next-generation sequencing examination of cerebrospinal fluid confirmed the specific infections in both cases, allowing for proper diagnosis and monitoring of treatment efficacy.
