Summary: This study investigates the impact of imported goods on manufacturing upgrading. Using city-level data for China from 2003 to 2013, the results show that the expansion of imports significantly promotes the upgrading of the manufacturing industry. Parts imports, capital goods imports, and consumer goods imports have a positive association with manufacturing upgrading, while primary goods imports have a negative impact. Mechanism tests reveal that technology improvement and consumption expansion are important channels.

Summary: This study examined the impact of a care coordination (CC) project on children with neurodevelopmental disability and medical complexity (NDD-MC) and their families. The study used mixed methods and multiple case designs to measure outcomes such as quality of life and resource use. The findings contribute to understanding how CC as an intervention affects the care integration of children with NDD-MC. Evaluation studies that consider the diverse impacts of CC interventions are essential for informing practice and policy for this population.

Summary: This study aims to determine the quality of life (QoL) from the patient's perspective by examining the lived experience of patients with abdominal wall hernia (AWH). The study identified five superordinate themes, including body image, mental health, symptoms, interpersonal relationships, and employment, which are important to these patients in terms of QoL. The study highlights the need for a standardized AWH QoL instrument that incorporates the themes important to patients.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the most important treatment attributes to multiple myeloma (MM) patients and evaluate two methods for quantifying patients' preferences: Discrete Choice Experiment (DCE) and Swing Weighting (SW). The results showed that MM patients value quality of life-related attributes like pain, mobility, and thinking problems, as well as life expectancy, but their importance varied depending on patients' treatment experience and side-effects. The study concluded that DCE is a preferred methodology for understanding relative attribute weights from a patient's perspective and highlighted the need to consider patients' physical, mental, and psychological health in decision-making related to MM drug development and clinical practice.

Summary: We analyze the impact of different components of firm characteristics on expected returns and comovements in international stock markets. By decomposing characteristics into country, industry, and country-and industry-adjusted elements, we find that adjusted components are the primary determinants of alphas and comovements. Component-based models outperform benchmark models, and the alphas are statistically significant. However, the profitability of alpha-chasing strategies is affected by factors such as estimation risk and trading costs.

Summary: The study found that patient-related outcomes (PROs) are underrepresented in clinical trials involving older patients with solid malignancies compared to disease- and treatment-related outcomes. Trials specifically for older patients tend to address PROs more often. Over the past fifteen years, there has been an incremental trend towards reporting PROs in clinical trials.

Summary: Pancreatic cancer is a deadly disease with unknown origins and limited treatment options. Surgical resection, the primary curative treatment, is associated with high morbidity and mortality rates and frequent recurrence. Patient-centered care and understanding patient perspectives are crucial for improving outcomes in pancreatic cancer surgery. Standardized patient-reported outcome and experience measures are needed to assess patient perspectives accurately.
