Summary: This study examined survey questions used to identify and describe cancer survivors in national cross-sectional studies in the US over the past 15 years. It found that there is no standard method for assessing self-reported cancer history, which limits the ability to distinguish important subgroups of survivors. Future surveys capturing detailed data on cancer types, stages/subtypes, metastatic/recurrent status, and treatments received could help fill important gaps in cancer survivorship research and clinical care.

Summary: Children and youth with special health care needs use more health care resources and their unique needs deserve additional consideration. Current health care spending is focused on acute illnesses and payment reform should shift away from fee-for-service and aim to lower costs. However, there is a lack of prioritization for investment in children's health and research is needed to determine where and how spending should be targeted.

Summary: The transition from pediatric to adult health care remains challenging for CYSHCN and their families. Despite advancements in the literature, gaps still exist in improving health outcomes during transitions. Key research areas prioritized in addressing deficiencies in the HCT process include optimal transition planning models, effects of insurance and community supports on health outcomes, and evaluation of fiscal policies to incentivize readiness and continuity of care.

Summary: Research has shown that methods such as convening workshops or meetings, utilizing quantitative methods, and adopting the James Lind Alliance approach are commonly employed to identify health research gaps, needs, and priorities. Important criteria include stakeholder importance, potential value, and feasibility. Clinicians, researchers, and patients are the most frequent stakeholders involved in these processes.

Summary: This study identified a lack of literature on nurse staffing and patient care outcomes in low/middle-income countries (LMICs) through a synthesis of published systematic reviews. The available data from LMICs were limited, and the data from high-income countries might not be representative of LMICs. This highlights the critical need for research on nurse staffing in LMIC contexts.

Summary: Consumers are increasingly turning to the internet for health information, which often goes beyond mere facts. Automated approaches to answering health questions must recognize the need for social and emotional support. This study introduces a new dataset, called CHQ-SocioEmo, which is the first publicly available resource for understanding non-informational support needs in consumer health-related questions online.

Summary: This study aimed to identify social needs of gynecologic oncology patients using a self-administered social needs assessment tool (SNAT) and compare it to a formal social work assessment performed by cancer care navigators (CCN). The results showed that SNAT identified many unmet social needs among the patients, which corresponded well with the CCN assessment and informed the provision of community resources.
