Summary: The study modeled the benefits and harms of LDCT screening for lung cancer, finding that starting at age 50 or 55 with a smoking history of 20 pack-years or more had more benefits compared to the 2013 USPSTF recommendations, but also resulted in more false-positive results, overdiagnosed cases, and radiation-related lung cancer deaths.

Summary: This study aims to conduct a systematic review and network meta-analysis to identify the best evidence-based treatments for the management of acute attacks and prophylaxis of hereditary angioedema (HAE). The study will include both parallel and crossover randomized controlled trials and search multiple electronic databases for relevant trials. The results will be synthesized using pairwise and network meta-analysis methods, considering the effect sizes, evidence certainty, and ranking of treatment effects.

Summary: In 2018, Canada legalized the recreational consumption of cannabis, following Uruguay as the second country to do so. While there is disagreement on the risk-benefit profile of cannabis globally, evidence shows consistent rise in cannabis use after legalization. However, postlegalization changes in cannabis-related metrics have been inconsistent, and the implications of cannabis legalization on substance-related harms and benefits for people who use opioids remain unclear. There is increasing scientific and popular interest in the therapeutic potential of cannabis to mitigate opioid-related harms. This perspective highlights the current state of Canadian research and suggests future directions.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the impact of family functioning on family-based interventions and explore the differences and mechanisms of intervention effectiveness among different subgroups based on family functioning. The study found significant differences among subgroups and showed that the low family functioning subgroup experienced improvements after the intervention. These findings have significant implications for screening, targeting, and adapting interventions.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the factors influencing antenatal care and malaria control strategies for pregnant women in semi-urban and rural areas, and explore their impact on the health of pregnant women and newborn babies. The findings revealed that the attendance of women to antenatal care services and completion of the full course of IPTp-SP were insufficient.

Summary: The study shows that half of pregnant women have good preventive practices against COVID-19, with the majority (55%) having good knowledge about the disease. Fear and knowledge levels are significantly associated with good prevention practices among pregnant women. Healthcare bodies should consider these findings to develop strategies for prevention practices against COVID-19.

Summary: This study aimed to characterize compliance with and deviations from Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) guidelines during neonatal resuscitation simulations and investigate the association with teamwork. The results showed that good teamwork and higher quality of decision-making appeared to decrease the odds of ventilation errors.
