Summary: The study investigated the thermal and crystallization properties of PLLA chains confined in electrospun fibers, revealing that crystal structure and phase transition were influenced by fiber diameter and annealing temperature. Low entanglement content in PLLA chains in fibers fabricated with 95:5 chloroform/trifluoroethanol solvent resulted in faster polymorphic transition compared to fibers fabricated with 60:40 chloroform/trifluoroethanol solvent.

Summary: In this study, NiFe2O4/ZnO-coated PLLA scaffold was used to evaluate the osteogenic differentiation capability of hAMSCs. The results showed that the NiFe2O4/ZnO-coated PLLA scaffold could enhance the adhesion, proliferation, and differentiation of hAMSCs, as well as promote the expression of osteogenic markers.

Summary: This article focuses on the process-structure-property relationship of PLLA fibers prepared by a two-step melt spinning process. The influence of spinning variables, such as temperature, rate, and draw ratio, on the structure and properties of the fibers was analyzed. The results showed that the crystallinity, lamellar orientation structure, and mechanical properties of the fibers depended on the spinning conditions. An approximate linear correlation was found between the orientation degree and tensile strength of the PLLA fibers, indicating the dominant role of the oriented structure in enhancing the fibers. High-performance PLLA fibers with a tensile strength of 499 MPa and Young's modulus of 5.30 GPa were achieved by adjusting the spinning parameters. These findings provide a theoretical direction for improving the structure characteristics of PLLA fibers through modifications of the spinning parameters.

Summary: Two methods were developed to fabricate porous poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) fibres with good internal pore connection, including the removal of a pore-forming agent and non-solvent induced recrystallization. The results showed that the porous structures were successfully achieved in PLLA fibres with higher crystallization, leading to improved mechanical properties.

Summary: This study investigated the use of nanosilica and nanoclay in polylactic acid electrospun scaffolds, demonstrating that the inclusion of these nanoparticles can enhance the physical and biological properties of the scaffolds. The morphology of nanofibers, wettability, crystallinity, and mechanical properties were all affected by the addition of nanosilica and nanoclay. Cell culture assays showed promising results for bone tissue regeneration, suggesting that nanosilica and nanoclay are potential fillers for engineered electrospun systems.

Summary: In this study, TNS3 was found to be involved in the fate decision of human bone marrow-derived stromal cells (BMSCs), regulating osteogenesis and adipogenesis through the control of RhoA activity and cytoskeletal reorganization. The findings highlight the crucial role of TNS3 in bone metabolism.

Summary: In this study, ultrafine PLLA and BC/PLLA fiber webs were successfully prepared via a novel laser electrospinning method. The addition of BC improved UV-shielding efficiencies of the webs, while the degree of order of crystals in the fibers was lower and the molecules had higher mobilities compared to raw fibers.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of different additives on the thermal and crystallization behaviors of electrospun PLLA fibers. The additives act as plasticizers, reducing the glass transition temperature and increasing the crystallization kinetics of PLLA. Additionally, the additives accelerate the polymorphic transition of PLLA fibers and make them more susceptible to alkaline degradation.

Summary: This study proposes a new approach to tolerate stereoerrors in the polymer by crowding them in a stereogradient copolymer. A zirconium complex of an amine tris(phenolate) ligand is used as a catalyst for the ring opening polymerization of meso-lactide at room temperature, and stereogradient copolymers are formed in the polymerization of mixtures of meso-lactide/L-lactide at 180 degrees C. These stereogradient copolymers exhibit enhanced crystallinities compared to stereorandom copolymers obtained with tin octanoate.

Summary: The laser-assisted melt electrospinning method was used to prepare PLCL fibers. In situ observation revealed that the number of jets formed during the process increased with higher laser power, applied voltage, and feeding rate. Thinner fibers were obtained when multiple jets were formed. Tension and stress profiles were estimated based on the in situ observation, and the formation of thinner fibers corresponded to higher peak values.

Summary: The crystallization behavior of binary crystalline mixtures composed of PEO and PLLA was investigated in electrospun nanofibers fabricated by ternary blends of PS, PEO, and PLLA. Preferred mixing of PEO and PLLA resulted in the formation of dispersed PEO/PLLA domains in the PS matrix. PLLA crystallized first during cooling, inducing phase separation and trapping of PEO within intracrystalline regions of PLLA crystals. The confinement favored the formation of alpha crystals phase in PLLA at low temperatures, and both PLLA and PEO melting temperatures were significantly depressed due to crystallization within hierarchical confinement.
