Precision measurements in nuclear decay offer a sensitive window to search for new physics beyond the standard electroweak model. Searches for new physics are also a strong motivation for experiments carried out at the high energy frontier. It is instructive to confront results from the low energy and the high energy frontiers in order to look for possible complementarities. This paper reviews the constraints on new physics obtained from nuclear and neutron decays and compares them to those from other semi-leptonic processes and from the LHC. The sensitivity requirements of new precision experiments in decay, to impact the search for new physics at the light of current and projected LHC results, are updated. Experimental developments in nuclear and neutron decay are discussed with emphasis on their projected goals to improve the limits on exotic weak couplings.

Comprehensive analysis of beta decays within and beyond the Standard Model

Adam Falkowski, Martin Gonzalez-Alonso, Oscar Naviliat-Cuncic

Summary: This paper reviews and analyzes precision measurements in allowed nuclear beta decays and neutron decay, confirming the V-A character of the interaction and updating the values for V-ud and g(A) at the 10^(-4) level. By incorporating data from mirror beta transitions in new global fits, the study also places new stringent limits on exotic couplings involving left-handed and right-handed neutrinos.

AFB in the SMEFT: precision Z physics at the LHC

Summary: This study reveals that studying the forward-backward asymmetry A(FB) at the Z peak within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework provides constraints on the vertex corrections of the Z boson to quarks. The inclusion of current A(FB) data significantly improves LEP bounds even in simple New Physics setups, indicating the competitiveness and complementarity of the LHC in precision measurements of the Z boson properties.

Semileptonic tau decays beyond the Standard Model

Summary: Hadronic tau decays are studied to investigate new physics, analyzing the relationship between Tau observables and Wilson coefficients in the low-energy effective theory. The analysis suggests the presence of Cabibbo anomaly in the combined dataset of new physics hints, which can be combined with inputs from other low-energy precision observables.

EFT analysis of New Physics at COHERENT

Victor Breso-Pla, Adam Falkowski, Martin Gonzalez-Alonso, Kevin Monsalvez-Pozo

Summary: Using an effective field theory approach, this study investigates coherent neutrino scattering on nuclei relevant to the COHERENT experiment. Non-standard effects in both neutrino production and detection are considered, with an arbitrary flavor structure and all leading Wilson coefficients simultaneously present. A concise description of the COHERENT event rate is obtained by introducing three generalized weak charges. The results have implications for specific new physics scenarios and highlight the importance of including COHERENT data in electroweak precision studies.

Superallowed decays within and beyond the standard model

Adam Falkowski, Martin Gonzalez-Alonso, Oscar Naviliat-Cuncic, Nathal Severijns

Summary: This paper reviews the role of superallowed transitions in determining the strength of weak interaction among the lightest quarks and in searching for new physics beyond the standard electroweak model. It also discusses the effects of nucleus-dependent radiative correction and nucleus-independent inner radiative correction. Though there has been significant progress in the study of mirror transitions, the data is still limited by experimental uncertainties.
