Bupivacaine local anesthetic to decrease opioid requirements after radical cystectomy: Does formulation matter?

Bogdana Schmidt, Hriday P. Bhambhvani, Daniel R. Greenberg, Kris Prado, Steven Shafer, Alan Thong, Harcharan Gill, Eila Skinner, Jay B. Shah

Summary: Among patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC) under enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol, there was no significant difference in postoperative opioid consumption, Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) pain scores, or length of stay between those receiving liposomal bupivacaine (LB) compared to high dose standard bupivacaine (SB).
