Summary: Contemporary housing developments in Germany are characterized by the return of large-scale housing and the revival of holistic approaches and integrated planning. This article reviews the planning of social infrastructure in recent decades, focusing on non-housing elements in housing developments and examining the role of infrastructural planning in integrated approaches and urban design themes.

Summary: The effect of thickness of aluminum, stainless steel and driver sheets on the ultimate tensile strength, weld width and hardness of aluminum-stainless steel joint in electromagnetic welding was investigated. Finite element analysis was used to predict joint formation, experiments were conducted, and microstructure analysis was performed to evaluate weld quality.

Summary: The aim of this study was to optimize the tensile strength of nylon for badminton string by investigating the effects of different testing conditions (temperature, relative humidity, and tensile rate). The results showed that increasing the processing temperature and humidity had a negative impact on the tensile strength, while increasing the tensile rate had a positive effect. A mathematical model was established using a response surface methodology to predict the tensile strength, and the optimal conditions were validated. Analysis of variance was employed to determine the significant effect of each term on the final response. The optimum processing temperature was found to be 2.9°C with a relative humidity of 0% and a tensile rate of 60 mm/min.

Summary: The study found that the coefficient of friction between the die and the specimen had a significant influence on the flow stress of the material during the forging process. Additionally, the effective strain at the side edges of the specimen decreased due to a lower recrystallization temperature, while the velocity of particles at the side edges increased because of unrestricted movement during forging. It was also concluded that particles located at the side edges, faces, and near the top head of the specimen experienced stress values exceeding the allowable stress.

Summary: The study found that subtractive manufacturing had minimal impact on fatigue behavior, but different laser-based powder bed fusion process parameters significantly affected fatigue strength. Additionally, subtractive finishing had a significant influence on fatigue properties of defect-free continuously cast reference specimens.

Summary: Long-term land leasing is a viable alternative to land ownership for improving agricultural production efficiency, economies of scale, and land management. However, its implementation is limited in Northern Ireland due to the lack of a significant tenanted sector. This study identifies barriers such as environmental concerns, inheritance tax implications, and the impact on future farm succession plans, and suggests solutions such as including break clauses, introducing income tax incentives, and emphasizing environmental management.

Summary: This study focuses on estimating the fatigue life of a flange yoke through experimental and numerical methods. By constructing the stress-life curve and conducting torsional fatigue tests, the researchers were able to predict the number of cycles to failure and minimize the need for costly and time-consuming experimental work. The results showed that incorporating the actual component's S-N curve and surface roughness factors into the analysis produced consistent results with physical testing.
