Summary: The study assessed the concentration profile of organochlorine pesticides in buffalo and cow's milk in Punjab, Pakistan, as well as the potential impacts of such exposure. The results showed that Hexachlorocyclohexanes were the predominant OCPs, with recent use of DDTs detected in some districts. Risk assessment indicated potential risks for adults consuming cow's milk and carcinogenic risks for children consuming both buffalo and cow's milk. Further monitoring and ecological analysis are recommended for future research.

Summary: The study identified 102 semivolatile organic compounds in the main rivers of Shenzhen, including organochlorine and organophosphorus pesticides, with diazinon being the most frequent compound detected. The concentrations of SVOCs in water and sediment were relatively stable over the years, with organochlorine pesticides primarily coming from the degradation of DDT and organophosphorus pesticides being mainly from cumulative content.

Summary: A novel voltammetric screening method using a carbon-paste electrode (CPE) and differential-pulse voltammetry (DPV) was developed for the rapid determination of fipronil (FPN) residues in lactose-free milk samples. Cyclic voltammetry revealed an irreversible anodic process at approximately +0.700 V (vs. Ag|AgCl, 3.0 mol L-1 KCl) in a 0.100 mol L-1 NaOH supporting electrolyte prepared as a 30% (v/v) ethanol-water solution. The method allowed for the quantification of FPN in milk samples without prior extraction steps or pre-concentration of FPN, with limits of detection (LOD) ranging from 0.568 to 0.331 mg L-1 and limits of quantification (LOQ) ranging from 1.89 to 1.10 mg L-1.

Summary: Bubble-bursting flow microextraction (BBFME) is a simple and powerful microextraction method that conforms to the principles of green analytical chemistry. It can effectively extract and determine some organochlorine pesticides from aqueous samples. This method transfers the target analytes to the surface of the sample solution using gas bubbles, and extracts them through the interaction at the liquid-gas interface.

Summary: A CPME protocol followed by GC-MS was proposed for accurate and sensitive monitoring of OCPs in environmental water samples. Monolithic sorbents were compared, and a sol-gel PEG-based sorbent in porous extraction capsules showed the highest extraction efficiency. LODs for OCPs ranged from 0.01 ng mL-1 to 0.03 ng mL-1 under optimized CPME conditions. The developed method demonstrated good trueness with relative recoveries between 90.5% and 105.2% (intra-day) and 93.0% and 105.0% (inter-day).

Summary: In this study, OCPs and PCBs were detected in raw bovine milk samples obtained directly from milking equipment of different animals and farms in Beja, a major milk producing region in Tunisia. All milk samples were contaminated with one or more pesticides, and measurable concentrations of PCB congeners were found. DDTs were most predominant, followed by HCB, PCBs, and HCHs. The presence of illegal use of banned pesticides was suggested based on DDT/DDE ratios. The historical or recent use of OCPs and possible emission sources of PCBs near the farms may contribute to the elevated levels of these contaminants in milk. However, the estimated daily intake values were below the tolerable daily intake fixed by FAO/WHO, indicating that consumption of raw milk in this region does not pose significant health risks.

Summary: In this study, organochlorine pesticides and polychlorinated biphenyls in raw bovine milk from Beja region, Tunisia were analyzed. All milk samples were found to be contaminated with pesticides and contained measurable concentrations of polychlorinated biphenyls. The predominant residue levels were dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethanes, and the varying DDT/DDE ratios suggested the illegal use of banned pesticides. The use of organochlorine pesticides and potential emission sources of polychlorinated biphenyls near the studied farms might lead to increased levels of these contaminants in milk produced. However, consumption of raw milk did not pose an obvious cancer risk or other health problems for local inhabitants according to health risk assessments.
