Summary: The aim of this study was to develop a rapid and convenient fluorimetric method for analyzing lomefloxacin. The method utilized the complex formation between the drug and aluminum ion to produce a highly fluorescent product. The addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate further enhanced the fluorescence intensity, which was measured at 429 nm after excitation at 332 nm. The relationship between emission intensity and lomefloxacin concentration was linear from 10-130 ng mL-1, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9996. The method demonstrated high accuracy and reliability in quantifying the drug in tablet formulations and real human plasma.

Summary: Increased surfactant micelles can enhance the effectiveness of alpha-tocopherol by reducing its prooxidant activity in oil-in-water emulsions. Alpha-tocopherol added post-homogenization led to higher concentrations in the continuous phase when SDS levels exceeded the critical micelle concentration, while pre-emulsification addition did not increase SDS concentrations in the continuous phase.

Summary: This study investigated the degradation of trichloroethene (TCE) in the Fe(II)/citric acid (CA) activated persulfate (PS) system with the addition of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) surfactant. The results showed that alkaline condition and the presence of SDS improved the efficiency of TCE degradation in the PS/Fe(II)/CA system. The study also identified the major reactive oxygen species (ROS) responsible for TCE degradation and proposed the possible decomposition pathway of SDS.

Summary: We investigated the transferability of DPD models in predicting anionic surfactant phase diagrams. Parameters were developed that accurately represented the phase diagrams of SDS and LAS across a wide range of concentrations. These parameters were found to be easily transferable to other systems and showed excellent agreement with experimental measurements.

Summary: The study demonstrates for the first time that shorter chitosan chains interact more preferentially with SDS and form larger microparticles. It also shows that hydrogen bonding plays a major role in microparticles aggregation, with hydrophobic interaction having a lesser effect.

Summary: The study evaluated the interactions between an anti-allergic drug and anionic and cationic surfactants in aqueous medium, examining mixed micellization behavior and surface properties. Theoretical approaches were used to explore synergistic or non-ideal behavior, and binding studies were elaborated by UV-visible spectroscopy. Benesi-Hildebrand theory was applied to calculate stoichiometric ratio, binding constant, and free energy change for the drug-surfactant mixtures, considering the use of surfactants as drug delivery agents for enhanced bioavailability.

Summary: This study measured the dissolution enthalpies of glycylglycine, glycylglycylglycine, and glycyl-L-tyrosine in solution and micellar solution, and investigated the thermo-chemical characteristics of peptide-micelle interactions. The results showed that the ionic state, chain length, and hydrophobicity of peptides influenced their interactions with anionic micelles. Additionally, a contraction effect of the micelles upon interaction with peptide zwitterions was observed.

Summary: Polymer/surfactant composites are used as excipients for water-insoluble solutes, with enhanced dissolution ability attributed to the formation of pre-micellar polymer surfactant aggregates (PS) at lower concentrations than the surfactant critical micelle concentration in water. This study investigates the microscopic interfacial structure of PS in composite media, including interface electrostatics and surface polarity. It is found that changing the polymer concentration in a composite system can regulate the counter-ion binding ability, surface potential, charge density, packing, and surface polarity of the PS interface, leading to increased solute dissolution. The modulation of the PS interface also acts as a barrier for the relocation of water-soluble charged solutes into the PS pseudo-phase, as shown by fluorescence anisotropy studies.

Summary: Ion flotation is an efficient technique for recovering metal ions from dilute solutions, but its industrial implementation is limited due to neglecting collector regeneration. A solvometallurgical process was developed to decompose copper(II) tetraamine dodecyl sulfate sublates from foams generated after ion flotation, demonstrating almost quantitative copper recovery. In addition, a closed-loop flow sheet was proposed for copper recovery using regenerated SDS with similar efficiency to fresh SDS.

Summary: Polymer/surfactant composites have attracted interest for their diverse applications, and the improved solution properties have been linked to the formation of premicellar surfactant aggregate-polymer complexes (PS) at low surfactant concentrations. Studies show that longer tail surfactants facilitate the formation of PS, leading to enhanced polymer cross-linking and greater solution viscosity. PS with shorter tail surfactants have a more polar interior, while PS with longer tail surfactants exhibit stronger packing due to favorable interactions between polymer polar groups and surfactant headgroups.
