Summary: Micellar enhanced ultrafiltration (MEUF) was used in this study to remove Procion Blue MxR (PBM) from synthetic effluent. MEUF reduced the toxicity level of the aqueous system using micellar media of cationic surfactants such as CTAB and CPC. The addition of nonionic surfactant, TX-100, was investigated for its impact on the solubilizing power of cationic surfactants. Factors such as surfactant concentration, electrolyte concentration, transmembrane pressure, RPM, and pH were investigated to optimize the conditions for maximum PBM removal, and the efficiency of MEUF was assessed through rejection percentage and permeate flux values. Among the surfactants studied, CPC achieved the highest rejection percentage of 96.90% for PBM encapsulation.

Summary: The solubilization of hydrophobic dyes in aqueous environments is a challenge for textiles and printing industries. This study investigates the solubilization of Nile blue sulfate using micellar and mixed micellar media of positively and negatively charged surfactants. UV-visible spectroscopy and conductometry were employed to analyze the solubilization process and study the interactions between the dye and mixed micelles. The findings indicate that micellization and solubilization occur spontaneously, and the mixed micelles exhibit different binding and partitioning abilities.

Summary: Hydrophobic membranes dominate in gas absorption processes, but hydrophilic membranes can show advantages in diluted gas absorption. A mass transfer model based on the interfacial partition coefficient (K) was proposed to study the effect of wettability on absorption performance and select suitable membrane absorption modes. The results showed that hydrophilic membranes are suitable for the absorption of diluted gases.

Summary: This manuscript studied the application of CTAB and CPC for the removal of NGB in synthetic effluent. The solubilization of NGB by single and mixed micellar systems using TX-100 as a surfactant was performed to determine the partitioning extent and Gibbs free energies. The results showed that both CTAB and CPC are effective candidates for NGB removal.

Summary: In this study, biopartitioning micellar liquid chromatography was used to assess the affinity binding of pain relief drugs to human serum albumin molecules, with selected molecular structural descriptors showing correlation coefficients higher than 0.8 with protein-drug binding values. The results indicate that these descriptors can address the most important structural features influencing the binding affinity of drugs to HSA.

Summary: This article studies the interactions between saponins and active principles in traditional Chinese medicine formulations. The partition coefficient (logP) between water and octanol was used to indicate these interactions. Four distinct patterns of interactions were identified, which were linked to the ability of saponins to form micelles in water. These findings provide insights into the detoxification and synergistic effects of herbal preparations.

Summary: The study focuses on developing new micellar electro-kinetic chromatographic methods for rapid assessment of complex biological properties, aiming to characterize retention mechanisms and evaluate predictive capabilities for intestinal absorption. Using a set of 45 compounds and quantitative structure-retention relationship (QSRR) approach, the support vector machine (SVM) model was found to have better predictive abilities.

Summary: In this study, Y RP-18 TLC chromatography was used to evaluate the environmental impact of several cosmetic raw materials, showing that chromatographic parameters are good predictors of compound mobility in soil or affinity for aquatic organisms. Parameters for THF, dioxane, and acetone may be useful for investigating lipophilic compounds, with additional descriptors such as PSA significantly influencing correlation quality.

Summary: Surfactant molecules have the ability to remove organic contaminants from industrial effluents as a solvent. In this study, the role of nonionic surfactant TX-100 in dissolving CTAB cationic micellar media is explored, along with the properties of reactive dyes. Experimental data show that TX-100 significantly enhances the solubilization capacity of CTAB.

Summary: In this study, a reliable method using reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) was developed to measure the logP of drugs. Calibration curves at pH 6 and 9 were created using reference standards with well-established logP values, and the logP of twelve common drugs was measured. The results showed general agreement with other HPLC-based literature logP values, indicating the potential of this method to provide reliable logP values of commonly used drugs.

Summary: The synergistic mechanism of a cationic surfactant CTAB and its composite solutions with nonionic surfactants TX-100 and Tw-20 in improving the aqueous solubility of Direct Black 2 dye was studied. It was found that solubilization was greatly enhanced in the cationic-nonionic mixed micelle systems, attributed to higher aggregation number, lower critical micelle concentration (CMC) and more hydrophobic interior of micelle.

Summary: In this study, a typical C18 column was coated with a pH cationic charge controllable zwitterionic synthetic surfactant, cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB), to generate a mixed mode reversed phase weak ion exchange column. Experimental results showed that the addition of 8.8 x 10 -4 M CAPB to the totally aqueous mobile phase ensured the stability of the surfactant on the column and allowed for the separation of a four-component sulfonamide mixture using micellar liquid chromatography (MLC) in under 11 min.

Summary: Increasing the structural options in medicinal chemistry is a promising approach to develop new drug candidates. In this research, a series of B-hydroxyphenyl phosphine borane derivatives were designed and synthesized, and their structure-property and structure-activity relationships were investigated. The synthesized derivatives exhibited sufficient stability in aqueous media, weaker hydrophobicity than the corresponding alkanes and silanes, and sufficient affinity for lipid membranes to enable permeability. Several derivatives showed significant estrogen receptor agonistic activity. The phosphine borane framework appears to be a promising option for structural development in drug discovery studies.
