Summary: In this study, a novel electrochemical aptamer sensor was developed for detecting ochratoxin A (OTA). The sensor was constructed by preparing a gold-copper alloy film and selectively dissolving copper to obtain nano-porous gold modified screen-printed carbon electrodes (NPG/SPCE). 2-mercaptoethylamine and glutaraldehyde were used for immobilizing the metal and cross-linking PAMAM, respectively. The sensor exhibited good reproducibility, stability, and specificity, with a linear range of 0.5 ng/mL to 20 ng/mL and a minimum detection limit of 0.141 ng/mL. This biosensor could be a promising tool for trace detection of OTA.

Summary: An electrochemical aptasensor has been developed to determine K+ concentration using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The sensor utilizes polyaniline (PANI) coating and potassium-selective aptamer to detect K+. The presence of K+ leads to the formation of a G-quadruplex configuration, which hinders electron transfer. The sensor has a wide detection range and low detection limit, and can be applied to various sample types.

Summary: Porous SiC ceramics with a core-shell structure were fabricated by sintering nano-SiC powder-carbon black compacts in air. During sintering, oxidation of SiC particles led to the formation of a SiO2 shell, while low-temperature phase transformation and precipitation of non-graphitic carbons were also observed.

Summary: Thrombin is a serine protease that plays a crucial role in blood clotting and homeostasis. Detecting thrombin quickly and accurately is important for biological analysis and clinical diagnosis. Various biosensors have been developed to achieve highly selective and specific detection of thrombin. Aptasensors, which use DNA or RNA aptamers as biological recognition elements, have shown great sensitivity and affinity in identifying thrombin.

Summary: Cells rely on secreted signaling molecules to coordinate essential biological functions, but direct measurement of these signals is challenging. This study presents an aptamer-conjugated hydrogel matrix that enables real-time measurement of specific secreted analytes. By monitoring inter-cellular cAMP signals in amoeba cells, the researchers achieved direct measurements of oscillatory cAMP signaling. This approach can be generalized to visualize diverse extracellular signaling processes and their effects on recipient cells.
