Summary: AI livestream with virtual anchors allows global brands to promote products across cultural differences. Investigating the tradeoffs between AI livestream and widely adopted KOL livestream in cross-border operations is important. The study reveals that AI livestream is beneficial when there is a strong network externality among livestream fans or when retail channel tariff costs are high.

Summary: We used propensity score matching methodology to compare the performance of Minority Owned/Controlled Banks (MDIs) and Non-Minority Banks (NMDIs) in terms of profit rates and risk. Contrary to previous studies, our empirical results show that MDIs do not exhibit under- or over-performance compared to NMDIs. Additionally, there is no statistically significant difference between the sub-categories of MDIs (Black, Asian, Hispanic, and Native American) and NMDIs in terms of profitability and riskiness. Robustness checks using zip code and city-level data confirm these results effectively.

Summary: This study compares the bread-making potential of different types of rice (normal rice and glutinous rice) in producing gluten-free bread. Significant differences were found in the properties of rice flour. The specific volume and texture of gluten-free bread were correlated with the amylose content and pasting properties of rice flour. Normal rice was found to produce gluten-free bread with larger volume, even texture, and better resilience compared to glutinous rice flour.

Summary: Microbial consortium inoculation is a natural-based strategy for protecting multiple ecosystem services. A global meta-analysis of 51 live-soil studies found that consortium inoculations have better effects on plant growth and pollution remediation compared to single-species inoculations. The diversity of inoculants and the synergistic effect between commonly used inoculums contribute to the effectiveness of consortium inoculation.

Summary: This study evaluates the utility of online group work in interprofessional education, showing that group discussion can improve decision-making abilities for students, especially in mixed professional fields. However, some mixed groups may have psychological barriers leading to ineffective discussions. The study suggests instructors should be aware of potential psychological barriers in about 16% of mixed group students in interprofessional education.

Summary: The combination of biochar and compost as soil amendments can promote safe production of lettuce in heavy metal contaminated soil. This combination significantly improved plant height and fresh weight of lettuce, and enhanced soil quality. Organic amendments had a significant impact on reducing shoot Cd concentration and increasing the activity of catalase, while decreasing soil available Cd concentration.

Summary: The addition of coronary artery calcium (CAC) to the traditional risk factors improves cardiovascular (CV) risk stratification and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD) prediction for asymptomatic patients with CV risk factors. The incorporation of CAC score into Thai CV risk scores increased the C statistic and net reclassification improvement (NRI) index, showing enhancement in risk prediction.

Summary: In patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), coronary artery calcium score (CACS), and Framingham risk score (FRS) are independently associated with cardiovascular events. Adding NAFLD to CACS and FRS improves the prediction of cardiovascular events in T2DM patients.

Summary: This study compares the performance of multiple linear regression and machine learning algorithms for predicting manure nitrogen excretion in lactating dairy cows and develops new machine learning prediction models. The results show that the artificial neural network model outperforms other models in terms of lower root mean square error and higher correlation coefficient. The performance of the artificial neural network models is greatly improved through the feature selection and learning algorithm tuning process.

Summary: This study explores the factors in the serum of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and their mechanisms of interaction with and influence on the cholesterol loading capacity (CLC) of macrophages. The results show that oxidized LDL can directly influence CLC in dual-seropositive RA patients. Two additional and independent pathways, through anti-oxLDL IgG and PCSK9, may mediate the effects of oxPL-apoB100 on CLC, depending on CRP and seropositivity status.

Summary: Coronary artery calcium (CAC) is an important predictor of cardiovascular disease (CVD), but the impact of positive CAC on CVD varies among individuals. A study found that nearly 70% of low-risk individuals showed a significant increase in CVD risk when CAC>0, highlighting the need for CAC screening in these individuals.

Summary: Coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) has significantly improved the imaging of adverse coronary plaque features. Recent findings have shown that quantitative and qualitative assessment of coronary plaque by CCTA can enhance the prediction of future major adverse cardiovascular events. It can also aid in the identification of high-risk non-obstructive coronary plaque, differentiate myocardial infarction types, and track disease progression and response to medical therapy.

Summary: People with HIV have a higher risk of myocardial infarction, with a greater proportion of type 2 MI due to oxygen demand-supply mismatch compared with type 1 resulting from atherothrombotic plaque disruption. HIV-positive individuals report a higher prevalence of cigarette and alcohol use. However, the impact of smoking and alcohol consumption on MI type among people living with HIV is not well studied.
