Summary: The study found that the effects of gas velocity and liquid velocity on gas-liquid mass transfer in a three-phase moving bed were similar to those in a trickle bed. As particle velocity increased, the liquid-phase volumetric mass-transfer coefficient first increased and then decreased. The sensitivity analysis revealed that liquid velocity had a greater impact on gas-liquid mass transfer than gas velocity and particle velocity.

Summary: Computational fluid dynamics simulations were used to investigate the flow behavior in a cocurrent three-phase moving bed reactor. The results showed that the gas-liquid flow affected the solid flow rate and the solid volume distribution in the wall and inlet region. Compared with trickle beds, TMBRs had lower liquid holdup and flow dead zone with increasing gas flow rate or decreasing liquid flow rate. The effect of liquid migration on the liquid distribution was weakened with increasing liquid flow rate. The gas-liquid-solid distribution advanced the understanding of flow behaviors in TMBRs and promoted reactor development.

Summary: In this study, a screening method for ionic liquids (ILs) was developed using the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation function and COSMO-RS method for oil extraction desulfurization. One IL, 1-butyl-3-methylpyridinium dicyanamide ([BMPy][DCA]), was selected from 702 ILs to remove four sulfides from n-heptane. The separation mechanism was analyzed using the quantum chemistry method.

Summary: This review highlights the potential of ionic liquids (ILs) for sustainable circular biorefineries, particularly emphasizing their importance in lignocellulosic biomass valorization. However, at the laboratory scale, IL-mediated biocatalysis faces limitations such as enzyme denaturation and loss of viability for fermenting microbes. Although enzyme stabilization in ILs has improved, the understanding of microbial interactions with ILs is still exploratory.

Summary: All-solid-state lithium batteries (ASSLBs) using solid electrolytes (SEs) have advantageous properties and have attracted significant interest. Among all SEs, argyrodites like Li6PS5Cl (LPSCl) are promising candidates for ASSLBs. However, conventional ball-milling methods for preparation are not ideal for large-scale production, and solution-based methods suffer from poor ionic conductivity. In this study, we developed a scalable method to prepare LPSCl superionic SEs from a liquid phase, which improved the ionic conductivity. Electrochemical evaluation of ASSLBs with the prepared SEs showed promising results.

Summary: This study reveals the influence of solvent composition and solute structure on the phase equilibrium of vanillin and ethyl vanillin in n-propanol-water mixed solvent, as well as the mechanisms of solute partitioning in the liquid-liquid two phases. The results show a significant correlation between solute hydrophobicity and solubility, and the ratio of enthalpy to entropy is influenced by the n-propanol content. Ternary phase diagrams indicate that ethyl vanillin is more prone to liquid-liquid phase separation, which is dependent on solute and solvent properties but independent of temperature.

Summary: The dual regulation of water on lignin in ionic liquids was studied using molecular dynamics simulation. The simulation results showed that a small amount of water enhanced the dissolution of lignin in ionic liquids, while excess water reduced the dissolution ability. This study provides insights for the design of efficient and cost-effective biomass pretreatment using ionic liquid-water systems.

Summary: The solid-liquid equilibria of four binary mixtures of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)amide ionic liquids with varying alkyl substituent lengths were studied. Eutectic behavior was observed in systems with long alkyl substituents (14-18 carbon atoms), while a non-eutectic system was found in a binary mixture with ethyl and octadecyl substituents. The experimentally determined eutectic compositions closely matched those predicted by the Schrodervan Laar equation, with a significant decrease in melting temperature compared to the parent ionic liquids.

Summary: The study found that ionic liquid modified cellulose exhibited high adsorption capacity and fast adsorption rate towards p-arsanilic acid. The adsorption process was determined to be multilayer adsorption dominated by the adsorption onto active sites. Interactions between p-arsanilic acid and the adsorbent were mainly through hydrogen bonding and pi-pi interaction to form outer-sphere complexes. The role of weak forces, such as hydrogen bonding, in the adsorption process between organoarsenic and adsorbents was highlighted in this research.

Summary: A novel synthesis strategy is reported for the fabrication of solid-state stretchable ionic conductors by seamlessly incorporating layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets into a poly(ionic liquid) (PIL) matrix. The LDH nanosheets form effective electrostatic interactions with the PIL chains, resulting in solid-state ionic conductors with enhanced mechanical strength and toughness without compromising the ionic conductivity. The PIL-LDH composite exhibits high stretchability (>600%), ultra-low temperature tolerance (-81 degrees C), excellent transparency, and superior ionic conductivity (>3 mS cm(-1)).
