Probable Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus transmission occurred after aerosol-generating medical procedures in Russia: nosocomial cluster

We report here a fatal case of laboratory confirmed Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF), which caused nosocomial infection in eight health care workers (HCWs), who had provided medical care for the patient. All the HCWs survived. The report demonstrates that airborne transmission of CCHF is a real risk, at least when the CCHF patient is in a ventilator. During performance of any aerosol-generating medical procedures for any CCHF patient airborne precautions should always be added to standard precautions, in particular, airway protective N95 mask or equivalent standard, eye protection, single airborne precaution room, or a wellventilated setting. Summary: The study analyzed 1082 patient records with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 in Russia, finding that patients with moderate illness were older, had more chronic diseases, and higher levels of intoxication compared to those with mild illness. Most patients received antiviral therapy during hospitalization, with umifenovir therapy and inclusion of interferon being associated with improvement in the clinical manifestation of the disease among patients.

Summary: This study aimed to examine the respiratory tract bacterial microflora in patients with community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) and determine the local factors influencing the microflora. The results showed variations in the composition and antibiotic resistance of the microflora between different healthcare institutions and during different examination periods. Klebsiella pneumoniae and Acinetobacter baumannii complex were the dominant pathogens, and a high percentage of drug-resistant variants was observed. The microflora composition also underwent diverse changes over time.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the acceptance rate and determinants of COVID-19 vaccination among healthcare workers in multiple centers. A cross-sectional survey with 4630 participants from 91 countries found an overall hesitancy rate of 37%. Factors such as perceived benefits and social norms were associated with acceptance, while concerns about vaccine safety/cost were tied to hesitancy. High Human Development Index (HDI) was strongly linked to vaccination acceptance.

Description of the rare localization of Dirofilaria repens in human in the right inguinal lymph node
