Summary: This study described the epidemiology of spine injuries in NCAA wrestlers, finding that most injuries were new and athletes commonly returned to sport within 24 hours. The injury rate was higher in competition than in practice, and both the preseason and postseason had higher injury rates compared to the regular season.

Summary: The study described the epidemiology of SRCs in 23 NCAA sports from 2014/15-2018/19 academic years, showing an increase in SRC rates in women's soccer and volleyball. The prevalence of equipment/apparatus contact in women's sports suggests the need for further investigation into SRC mechanisms in women's sports. Most SRCs were reported as new injuries during the study period, indicating the importance of monitoring recurrent SRCs in men's and women's ice hockey.

Summary: This research examined how the NCAA communicated the changes in NIL to its members through the lens of hegemony theory. The critical discourse analysis revealed that the NCAA and its leaders predominantly used ideological influence, appealing to fairness and amateurism, to guide compliance with NIL guidelines. The NCAA also attempted to enforce compliance through coercion but ultimately relinquished its hegemony in communication by decentralizing control to member institutions and seeking federal involvement.

Summary: The study aimed to describe levels of sport specialization in Canadian high school students and investigate its association with the history of musculoskeletal injury and/or concussion. Approximately one-third of Canadian high school students participating in sports were categorized as highly specialized. Highly specialized students had a significantly higher musculoskeletal injury rate compared to low specialization students, while there was no significant difference in lower extremity injury or concussion rate. Participating in one sport for more than 8 months and increased training hours were associated with higher injury and concussion rates.

Summary: Previous research has found a significant association between sustaining a concussion and suicidality in adolescents. However, this study found that after controlling for other relevant variables, there was no significant association between concussion and suicidality, except for a significant relationship between concussion and suicide attempts in boys.

Summary: A cross-sectional study was conducted on collegiate club-sport athletes to investigate the association between adolescent sport specialization levels in high school and injuries sustained during club sports in college. The study found that adolescent sport specialization was not associated with reported injuries in collegiate club-sport athletes. Athletes who played a different sport in college than in high school were more likely to report lower extremity or head/neck acute injuries compared to those who played the same sport in high school and college.
