Summary: The study found that only Mycoplasma hominis was associated with symptoms/signs in nonpregnant women, specifically related to bacterial vaginosis. Ureaplasma species were not associated with symptoms/signs. Therefore, routine testing for Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, and Ureaplasma parvum in nonpregnant women is not supported.

Summary: This article reports four cases of peritoneal dialysis (PD)-associated peritonitis caused by Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum, and Ureaplasma urealyticum, along with a literature review. The four cases were female patients with recurrent culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis, which was related to menstruation. These pathogens were detected in the PD fluid of the patients using metagenomic next-generation sequencing. All four patients were cured by intraperitoneal tigecycline combined with oral azithromycin or minocycline. Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma parvum, and Ureaplasma urealyticum should be given more attention in female patients with recurrent culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis, especially when it is related to menstruation, sexual intercourse, or urogenital tract operation. Moreover, metagenomic next-generation sequencing can provide a reasonable method to identify the pathogen for culture-negative PD-associated peritonitis.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of azithromycin-resistant U. urealyticum and M. hominis infections in pregnant women and explored the possible influencing factors and consequences of insensitive Mycoplasma infection. It was found that azithromycin-resistant cervical Mycoplasma infection in pregnant women was associated with a significantly increased incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Summary: This study investigated the infection and antimicrobial resistance of Ureaplasma urealyticum and Mycoplasma hominis in patients with genital tract diseases in Jiangsu, China. The results showed a high prevalence of U. urealyticum mono-infections and an increasing overall infection rate in the past 3 years. Females had a higher infection rate than males, and the main age group affected was 20-39. The antimicrobial resistance rates varied for different drugs, with lower resistance observed for gatifloxacin, josamycin, minocycline, and doxycycline, and higher resistance observed for azithromycin, clindamycin, roxithromycin, sparfloxacin, and ofloxacin. The antimicrobial resistance of U. urealyticum and M. hominis to these drugs has been changing in the past 3 years.

Summary: The global status of resistance to tetracyclines in Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma species is relatively high and prevalent, with high levels of heterogeneity observed in all studies except for doxycycline resistance in M. hominis isolates. This highlights the importance of regional and local antibiotic susceptibility testing before treatment choice, as well as the development of newer generations of tetracyclines to prevent antibiotic misuse, emergence and spread of resistant strains, and treatment failure.

Summary: We retrospectively reviewed reports of 4,166 female outpatients detected by the mycoplasma identification verification and antibiotic susceptibility kit from the last five years. Among them, more than 73.3% of cases with Ureaplasma urealyticum or Mycoplasma hominis single infection or co-infection with both species were susceptible to three tetracyclines and one macrolide (josamycin). Additionally, more than 84.8%, less than 4.4%, and less than 39.6% of the U. urealyticum, M. hominis, and co-infection cases, respectively, were susceptible to clarithromycin and roxithromycin. Four quinolones (ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin, sparfloxacin, and levofloxacin) and three macrolides (azithromycin, erythromycin, and acetylspiramycin) were active against less than 48.9% of the isolates. Furthermore, 77.8%, 18.4%, and 7.5% of the M. hominis, U. urealyticum, and co-infection cases, respectively, were susceptible to spectinomycin.

Summary: The prevalence of Ureaplasma urealyticum (UU) and Mycoplasma hominis (MH) among infertile women was 31.87%, with the most affected age group being women between thirty and thirty-five years old. The most efficient antibiotics in eradicating UU and MH were Pristinamycin and Josamycin, with other effective options including Doxycycline, Minocycline, Tetracycline, and Erythromycin.

Summary: Fluoroquinolone resistance in Mycoplasma hominis and Ureaplasma spp. is increasing globally. This study evaluated the antimicrobial activity of two new fluoroquinolones, delafloxacin and finafloxacin, for the first time, against clinical isolates of M. hominis and Ureaplasma spp. The results showed that delafloxacin had lower minimum inhibitory concentrations against fluoroquinolone-resistant isolates of both M. hominis and Ureaplasma spp.

Summary: BCG-based intravesical immunotherapy is the gold standard treatment for high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. However, some high-risk patients experience relapse and do not respond to BCG. Our research group developed OncoTherad (R) nano-immunotherapy, which showed positive outcomes and mechanisms of action in an animal model with NMIBC. OncoTherad (R) nano-immunotherapy was more effective than BCG treatment, reducing the malignancy rate by 70% through modulation of TLR4-mediated interferon and RANK/RANKL signaling pathways.

Summary: Proper recognition and personalized therapy are crucial for vulvovaginal atrophy (VVA). The assessment of VVA should include questionnaires, wet mount microscopy, and the determination of Vaginal Cell Maturation Index (VCMI) and infections. Low dose vaginal estriol is safe and efficient, making it the first choice hormonal treatment for women with contraindications for steroid hormones. New estrogens, androgens, and SERMs are being developed and tested, and alternative therapies such as intravaginal Hyaluronic Acid (HA) or Vit D may be suitable for women who cannot or do not want to use hormones. Proper diagnosis, including microscopy of vaginal fluid, is essential for effective treatment. Low dose vaginal estrogen treatment, especially with estriol, is preferred for most women. Oral ospemifene and vaginal dihydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) are considered safe and efficient alternative therapies. More safety data are awaited for several SERMs and a newly introduced estrogen: estetrol (E4). The indications for laser treatments are questionable.

Summary: This review examines the relationship between religiosity/spirituality/religious-spiritual coping and end-of-life (EOL) care preferences and receipt in cancer patients. The results show that religiosity/spirituality is associated with more aggressive EOL care and lower rates of advance care planning. Spiritual care from the medical team is associated with more referrals to hospice and less aggressive care, while high spiritual support from religious communities is associated with less hospice and more aggressive care.

Summary: Graph neural networks and convolutional architectures have played a key role in improving molecular property prediction in drug discovery. However, this is a low data problem, which is incompatible with regular deep learning approaches. In this paper, the authors address this challenge by defining deep learning architectures that accept compound chemical structures as molecular graphs, creating a few-shot learning strategy across graph neural networks and convolutional neural networks, and proposing a two-module meta-learning framework to predict molecular properties on few-shot data.

Summary: This study aimed to determine the prevalence and factors associated with Trichomonas vaginalis infection among women of reproductive age. The results showed an overall prevalence of T. vaginalis infection of 1.3%, and it was found to be associated with factors such as ethnicity, smoking, and bacterial vaginosis. These data suggest that screening programs can be helpful in guiding prevention strategies in the community.

Summary: This article introduces a domain adaptation method based on comparing seismic features, which is used to detect natural gas in 2D seismic data. The proposed method does not require modifying the training data or DL model architecture, but focuses on analyzing the training data to recognize patterns for comparing and clustering similar seismic data. Compared to the DL model trained with all available seismic data, the proposed method achieves significant improvements in precision, recall, F1 score, and IoU.
