Summary: This study found that workplace stress, depression symptoms, and levels of inflammation are related to future coronary heart disease (CHD) incidence. Changes in stress, depression, and inflammation can predict the occurrence of CHD events, with depression symptoms mediating the association between workplace stress and CHD incidence.

Summary: The study found that low job control was associated with an increased risk of depression, while high job demands were slightly linked to a lower risk of depression for both men and women. Additionally, high job strain and passive jobs (low control) were associated with an increased risk of depression among men, and passive jobs were linked to an increased risk among women.

Summary: The study found a significant association between depression and Alzheimer's disease, with clinical measures of depression showing a more consistent and significant effect size in predicting AD risk compared to symptomatic rating scales. The type of rating scale used to assess depression and the selected cut-off criteria also moderated the relationship between depression and AD risk.

Summary: This study identified 15 plasma proteins associated with cognitive decline and dementia, which were consistently identified in both cohorts and not explained by known dementia risk factors. Six of these proteins have levels that can be modified by currently approved medications for other conditions in dementia-free individuals.

Summary: This study examined the difficulties that service members face when transitioning from military to civilian life and found that changes in mental health observed during active duty were associated with post-military adjustment. The results showed that higher levels and increases in posttraumatic stress, anger, and depression during deployment were related to increased stress and decreased job satisfaction after leaving the Army. Monitoring changes in mental health during active duty can help identify personnel who need additional support during the military-to-civilian transition.

Summary: Internalizing mental disorders often co-occur and share common etiological processes. This umbrella review synthesized meta-analytic evidence from longitudinal studies to identify modifiable risk and protective factors across depressive, anxiety, and eating disorder psychopathology domains. Results highlighted potential intervention targets for preventing/treating internalizing psychopathology and reducing comorbidity, but more research is needed to investigate similar sets of factors across internalizing domains.

Summary: This study investigated the association between volumetric mammographic breast density measures, their changes over time, and breast cancer risk. It was found that higher values of volumetric percent density and dense volume were positively associated with increased breast cancer risk, while an inverse association was evident for increasing non-dense volume. No clear effect of annual changes in mammographic breast density emerged.

Summary: In order to develop preventive and therapeutic measures against COVID-19, understanding the immune response and sustained immune activation is crucial. This study investigated the immune responses in infected, recovered, and vaccinated individuals and found that antibody titers against SARS-CoV-2 antigens vary among individuals. The study also identified candidate biomarkers that correlate with neutralizing antibody titers in vaccinated recovered individuals, suggesting the importance of personalized therapeutic options.
