Summary: Despite the high clinical significance of sarcopenia in alcohol-associated cirrhosis, the mechanisms of ethanol-induced impaired protein homeostasis are poorly understood. This study identified PP2A as a key mediator in ethanol-induced dysregulation of protein balance, suggesting potential therapeutic approaches targeting the PI3K gamma-PP2A axis.

Summary: Repeated cocaine exposure induces changes in AMPK and pAMPK in different brain regions and cellular compartments, with some differences between acute withdrawal and ongoing cocaine treatment. Pretreatment with metformin, an indirect AMPK activator, enhances acute cocaine-induced locomotor activity but blocks the development of sensitization. These findings provide insights into the dynamics of AMPK activation in subcellular compartments and support the potential use of metformin for the treatment of cocaine use disorder.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that RLN can treat HF by activating the cardiac RXFP1 gene, improving cardiac systolic function and reducing the progression of HF. The results demonstrate that RLN, through activation of the RXFP1 signaling pathway, can reduce the upregulation of fetal genes and pathological remodeling markers, improving patient cardiac function.

Summary: Through pH control, two types of Cu(ii)-AMP-4,4'-bipy coordination polymers were successfully synthesized and their structures were determined using X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis. One nucleotide remained unprotonated while the other was protonated, with the protonated NO3- playing a role in charge balancing within the crystal lattice. The chirality of these compounds was studied using solid-state circular dichroism spectroscopy based on crystal structure analysis.

Summary: This study reveals the inhibitory effect of Resveratrol butyrate esters (RBEs) on adipogenesis by regulating adipogenic protein expression and increasing the p-AMPK/AMPK ratio. The accumulation of intracellular lipid droplets in adipocytes was reduced in a dose-dependent manner after RBEs treatment. These findings contribute to a better understanding of the potential anti-obesity properties and applications of RBEs.

Summary: CTRP3 plays a role in lipid metabolism and necroinflammation in renal tubular cells by inhibiting SREBP-1 expression, increasing PPAR-α and ABCA1 expression, and inhibiting NLRP3-mediated inflammation and MLKL-dependent necroinflammation. It also activates the AMPK pathway to provide protection.

Summary: The inaccessibility of human cardiomyocytes has hindered cardiovascular research efforts, leading researchers to use non-human cell sources as proxies. Rodent models have been widely accepted to study the human heart, but concerns about cross-species differences have prompted the use of human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes. A comparative study was conducted on rat neonatal cardiomyocytes and human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, revealing distinct cellular signaling and gene expression patterns between the two cell populations.
