Summary: This review discusses the relationship between chronic pain and modifiable lifestyle factors among cancer survivors, including stress, insomnia, diet, obesity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and physical activity. Improving lifestyle behaviors can reduce mortality, comorbid conditions, and cancer-related side-effects. Summary: Many cancers can be prevented by improving diet, increasing physical activity, and maintaining a healthy weight. In this review, the relative benefits of each lifestyle change on cancer-related deaths are analyzed based on epidemiological data and meta-analyses. Among all interventions, it is clear that exercise, particularly improving cardiorespiratory fitness, is the most effective way to reduce the risk of dying from cancer.
