Malignant otitis extema is a severe and rare infection of the external acoustic meatus. Triphasic bone and Ga-67 scintigraphies are used to initial detect and follow-up the response of therapy. With single photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography images, the diagnostic sensitivity is higher. We presented a case with malignant otitis extema with initial negative planar scintigraphic finding. The lesion was detected by photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography images. We concluded that the photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography should be performed routinely for patients with suspected malignant otitis extema, even without evidence of lesion on planar images. Summary: This study found that the baseline F-18-FDG PET radiomic feature RLNGLRLM can independently predict survival outcomes in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). A prognostic stratification model based on this feature was proposed, which may help tailor therapeutic strategies for DLBCL patients.

Summary: This study investigated whether combining primary tumor and metastatic nodal glycolytic heterogeneity on F-18-FDG PET improves prognostic prediction in NSCLC with locoregional disease. The results showed that combined entropy and age independently predicted overall survival and progression-free survival. The models based on combined entropy outperformed the traditional staging system and showed prognostic value in different subgroups.

Summary: This study investigated the influence of different dichotomization methods on the survival prediction of lymphoma patients based on total metabolic tumor volume (TMTV) measured from F-18-FDG PET. The results showed that the optimal TMTV cutoff point for predicting progression-free survival and overall survival varied among different dichotomization methods, but the prognostic significance of TMTV remained consistent.

Genomic and Glycolytic Entropy Are Reliable Radiogenomic Heterogeneity Biomarkers for Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Yu-Hung Chen, Kun-Han Lue, Chih-Bin Lin, Kuang-Chi Chen, Sheng-Chieh Chan, Sung-Chao Chu, Bee-Song Chang, Yen-Chang Chen

Summary: This study found that the entropy-based radiogenomic features are more reliable than median-based features, and PET-based glycolytic entropy is insensitive to image matrix size change and significantly associated with tumor metabolic volume and cancer staging. These findings suggest that radiogenomic and glycolytic entropy can serve as ideal biomarkers for NSCLC research and clinical use.

Summary: This study examined the number of therapy sessions required for patients with EILO/ILO to sufficiently improve their symptoms. The results showed that patients with comorbid behavioral health diagnosis, higher vocal handicap index score, and reduced physical activity due to EILO/ILO symptoms required more therapy sessions. Patients with secondary environmental triggers also required more sessions. Only a small percentage of patients returned for additional therapy sessions after discharge, and they were mostly from affluent neighborhoods.

Clinical characteristics and prognosis of laryngeal tuberculosis combined with respiratory tuberculosis

Mengdie Gao, Liyu Cheng, Qingcui Wang, Qingwen Yang, Xiaoyi Wang, Yanru Li, Rong Hu, Wen Xu

Summary: This study investigates the clinical characteristics, diagnosis, and prognosis of patients with laryngeal tuberculosis (LTB) combined with respiratory tuberculosis. The study found that LTB commonly affects middle-aged men and presents with symptoms such as hoarseness, abnormal sensation of pharyngeal, and pharyngalgia. The lesions mainly involve multiple subregions, primarily the glottis, and can also involve the pharynx. Half of the patients were complicated with pulmonary tuberculosis (PTB), and chest CT was superior to X-ray in detecting pulmonary lesions. Most patients showed significant improvement in symptoms and morphology of the pharyngeal and laryngeal mucosa after regular anti-tuberculosis treatment.

Efficacy and preservation of hearing with low-dose gentamicin in unilateral meniere's disease: A clinical symptomatology-based study

Summary: This study assessed the efficacy and safety of low-dose intratympanic gentamicin for vertigo attacks in Meniere's disease. The treatment significantly reduced vertigo attacks without causing hearing deterioration. The method primarily affected vestibular function while preserving cochlear integrity. These findings suggest that a low-dose, clinical symptomatology-based gentamicin treatment regimen could be an effective and safe strategy for managing unilateral Meniere's disease.
