Summary: The study revealed that pupil size and fixation behaviors are reliable indicators to detect lies in questionnaire surveys, while blink and saccade behaviors do not predict deception. Deception leads to increased pupil size, fixation count, and duration, with respondents focusing on different areas of the questionnaire when lying versus telling the truth. The linear support vector machine (SVM) deception classifier achieved an accuracy of 74.09% in actual deception situations.

Summary: The study developed a new questionnaire called the Sarcopenia Knowledge Questionnaire (SKQ) to assess the level of awareness about sarcopenia in older adults. The reliability and validity of this tool were tested with a sample of 293 older adults. The SKQ demonstrated excellent internal consistency (Cronbach's a = 0.969) and moderate convergent validity (correlation with the Mandarin Multidimensional Health Literacy Questionnaire, r = 0.511, p < 0.001). The results suggest that the SKQ is a valid and reliable instrument for evaluating the knowledge of older adults about sarcopenia.

Summary: The performance of the dry eye questionnaire (DEQ-5) was compared with the Ocular Surface Disease Index (OSDI) in this study, and the validity of the DEQ-5 questionnaire was further validated. The study found that there was a significant correlation between the total scores of DEQ-5 and OSDI, and the DEQ-5 questionnaire showed high sensitivity and specificity in diagnosing dry eye symptoms.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the reliability and validity of a questionnaire measuring rural schoolchildren's knowledge and perception of exposure to organophosphate pesticides. The results showed that the questionnaire provides a useful tool for examining pesticide exposure in agricultural regions, allowing younger community members to participate. The questionnaire grouped questions into five factors that summarize pesticide knowledge and perception among the schoolchildren.

Summary: This study examined how the severity of radiographic knee osteoarthritis (KOA) affects recurrent falls in middle-aged and older individuals. The results showed that older adults with radiographic evidence of KOA had a higher likelihood of experiencing recurrent falls compared to those without KOA, regardless of established risk factors. On the other hand, middle-aged adults with KOA did not have an increased odds of recurrent falls, except for those with possible KOA.

Summary: This study evaluated the risks of clinical fracture, hip fracture, and mortality prior to fracture among men aged at least 80 years. The results showed that fall history, hip bone mineral density, and recent fracture were strong predictors of clinical fracture and hip fracture. Age and multimorbidity were strong predictors of mortality before fracture. The study results have important implications for guiding osteoporosis drug treatment decisions.

Summary: Arousal during sleep triggers ventricular repolarization lability, which may increase the risk of long-term cardiovascular mortality. The QT variability index during arousal is independently associated with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality, indicating maladaptation of ventricular repolarization to the arousal stimulus. Further study is needed to determine if arousal suppression can reduce ventricular repolarization lability and subsequent mortality, and if arousal-related QT variability index can be used for more accurate risk stratification.

Summary: The study investigated the phenotype, variability, and penetrance of IMPG2-related maculopathy. The results showed that mono-allelic IMPG2 variants could result in haploinsufficiency manifesting as a maculopathy with variable penetrance and expressivity. The maculopathy is usually limited to the fovea and is associated with moderate visual impairment.
