Summary: This study found that aligning MRS data to the creatine (Cr) signal can more accurately measure GABA concentration in grey matter and is more robust. The variability in performance is primarily caused by differences in the zero-order phase estimated by each alignment method, rather than frequency differences.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the value of MRI biomarkers for the identification of IDH mutation and 1p/19q codeletion in adult patients with diffuse glioma. ADC and CBV models were built to determine the status of IDH mutation and 1p/19q codeletion, and the performance of these models was improved by incorporating metabolite concentrations. The results showed that the ADC model performed well in identifying IDH mutation status, while the CBV model outperformed in predicting 1p/19q codeletion.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the diagnostic yield of rapid T1-mapping for differentiating malignant and non-malignant effusions in an ex-vivo set up, showing that MOLLI T1 relaxation times were able to distinguish between different types of fluids effectively.

Summary: The association between brain injury after cardiac arrest and poor survival outcomes has created pessimism, but the case of Mr. Damar Hamlin's favorable neurologic recovery brings some optimism. His case emphasizes the need to implement neuroprotection strategies, redefine brain recovery, and incorporate neurorehabilitation for holistic recovery in all cardiac arrest patients.

Summary: Treatment outcomes for migraine and chronic pain conditions show modest results with higher GABA+ levels identified in recent studies, particularly in the posterior cingulate gyrus (PCG). This study suggests that elevated GABA+ in the PCG may reflect an underlying mechanism of chronic headache and pain conditions, informing the development of treatments targeting aberrant brain neurochemistry to improve patient outcomes.

Summary: This study investigates the reproducibility of metabolite measurements in the insula using MRS on a 3T scanner, comparing different scanning sequences. The results show that MEGA-PRESS can reliably measure standard metabolites and GABA in the insula, with voxel placement inconsistencies not affecting reproducibility and no sex differences found.

Summary: The plant metabolite picrotoxinin (PXN) is commonly used in neuroscience to study GABAergic signaling. The hydrolysis of PXN in weakly alkaline media actually occurs at a closed lactone, contributing to a longstanding misunderstanding in the literature.

Summary: The study aimed to test the reproducibility and predictive value of a simplified score for assessing extraprostatic tumor extension (sEPE grade). By evaluating 65 patients who underwent multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) and assessing by seven radiologists, it was found that the sEPE grade combined with the diameter of the index lesion accurately predicts extraprostatic tumor extension.

Summary: A 70-year-old man with a history of small cell lung carcinoma presented with suspected paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis. Brain (18)FDG PET/CT confirmed limbic encephalitis with bilateral amygdalian and hippocampal hypermetabolism, while whole-body (18)FDG PET/CT revealed metastatic recurrence of small cell lung carcinoma. Follow-up (18)FDG PET/CT after chemotherapy showed normalization of brain metabolism and partial metabolic response of the metastatic recurrence, consistent with good clinical neurological evolution. This case highlights the clinical-metabolic imaging correlation in paraneoplastic limbic encephalitis.

Summary: A new series of derivatives were synthesized and tested for their anticonvulsant activity, neurotoxicity, liver enzymes, and neurochemical assay. The screening showed varying anticonvulsant potential, particularly in chemically induced seizures. Compound 6d and 6e exhibited the highest potency in ScPTZ test. Compound 6e was even more potent than the reference drugs phenobarbital and Ethosuximide. The results suggest that the newly synthesized compounds have potential for further development as anticonvulsants.

Summary: The interest in fluorinated substances has grown due to their diverse properties. NMR spectroscopy, an important analytical method, provides information on the structure and environment changes. Temperature plays a crucial role in most studies, however, measuring it is challenging in certain cases. Despite the difficulties, the potential applications in chemical reactors and medical fields are significant. Polyfluorinated molecules with separate 19F MR signals prove to be ideal for temperature determination without the need for a reference substance. The sensitivity of temperature is influenced by fluorine position and chemical environment.
