Summary: This systematic review aims to evaluate the evidence base of lumbosacral lipomas and provide guidance for management strategies. The results show that lumbosacral lipomas have significant heterogeneity in clinical presentation and outcome, and there is currently insufficient evidence to support clear recommendations for the management of pediatric lumbosacral lipomas.

Summary: This article reports a case of a rare intraarterial lipoma causing peripheral arterial occlusion. The patient was a heavy smoker with a history of chronic alcoholism, retinopathy, dyslipidemia, and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The clinical symptoms included ulcers on the heels and sole of the foot, as well as signs of arterial occlusion. The patient eventually underwent amputation of the affected limb.

Summary: There has been a recent flood of important articles with titles variations on the theme of "X is enough" or "Y is all you need." It is important to approach such claims with skepticism and an open mind. One specific claim in an AIJ Position Paper suggests that reward is enough, and the following is a response to that position.

Summary: Parosteal lipomas are rare benign neoplasms consisting of mature adipocytes near bone. Accurate diagnosis and proper follow-up are crucial for distinguishing them from malignant lesions and ensuring successful treatment outcomes. In this case, a 33-year-old male patient with pain and swelling in the forearm was diagnosed with parosteal lipoma and successfully treated with surgical excision.

Summary: Elevated triglycerides play an important role in residual atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk. Omega-3 fatty acids may lower cardiovascular risk through various mechanisms. The ethyl ester of omega-3 eicosapentaenoic acid offers a promising therapeutic option for reducing ASCVD risk.

Summary: This issue of the Biomedical Journal covers topics such as the risks of electronic cigarette smoking, variations of SARS-CoV-2 and ACE2, the impact of COVID-19 on the gastrointestinal system, the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy in elderly patients, thyroid hormone regulation of noncoding RNAs in liver tumors, and the role of G6PD in redox signaling. Additionally, it discusses the inhibitory effects of Perilla leaf extract on SARS-CoV-2, the use of artificial neural networks for diagnosing COVID-19 and predicting vaccine epitopes, differential inflammatory responses to physical effort between men and women, as well as surgical strategies for drug-resistant epilepsy, computer-supervised double-jaw surgery, dental pulp stem cell motility, and brain blood supply restoration after atherosclerotic stroke.

Summary: This study aimed to develop a universal model to predict the soluble solid content (SSC) of thin-skinned fruits with similar physicochemical properties. A progressive hybrid variable selection strategy was used to establish the model, resulting in accurate predictions of SSC for different species using wavelength-limited portable NIR equipment.

Summary: This study describes different types of lipomas found in wild striped seabream, including two new types never observed in fish pathology. The tumors predominantly located in the stratum spongiosum of the dermis were composed of adipocytes grouped and surrounded by fibroblasts and collagen fibers.

Summary: Endoscopic resection and grafting are effective methods for treating simple bone cysts and intraosseous lipomas of the calcaneus, with minimal morbidity and high efficiency. Allogenic cancellous bone grafting shows a low rate of complications and no tumor recurrence, while injectable bone substitute has a higher rate of complications and recurrence. Furthermore, the study suggests that simple bone cysts may transform into intraosseous lipomas, exhibiting distinct features of both entities.
