Stent grafts improved patency of ruptured hemodialysis vascular accesses

Summary: The study demonstrated that stent grafts were more effective than balloon tamponade in salvaging ruptured dialysis access, with superior target lesion primary patency rates at 6 and 12 months. The benefit of stent grafts was sustained over time, with an increase in median time to next intervention in the ruptured area. Access circuit patency rates were similar between the two groups.

Analysis of patency rates and factors associated with arteriovenous fistula in maintenance hemodialysis patients followed for 10 years

Ratio of Extracellular to Intracellular Water Is Associated with Permanent Catheter Patency Survival in Patients Receiving Maintenance Hemodialysis

Summary: Patients undergoing dialysis with a permanent catheter often face infection or malfunction. This study investigated the relationship between body composition monitoring parameters and the survival of permanent catheter patency in hemodialysis patients. The results showed that a high extracellular-to-intracellular (ECW/ICW) ratio was associated with better permanent catheter patency survival. The ECW/ICW ratio remained an independent predictor even after adjusting for other factors. Additionally, the association between BCM parameters and patency survival differed between patients with infection and malfunction.

One-year outcomes and predictive factors for primary patency after stent placement for treatment of central venous occlusive disease in hemodialysis patients

This case series demonstrates that fondaparinux, with or without an antiplatelet agent, can be an effective and safe option for patients with thrombotic APS who experience recurrent venous and/or arterial thromboembolism and are positive for antiphospholipid antibodies.

Calcium-based phosphate binder use is associated with lower risk of osteoporosis in hemodialysis patients

Summary: In hemodialysis patients, older age, female gender, lower body mass index, diabetes mellitus, and higher Kt/V ratios are associated with increased risk of osteoporosis, while the use of calcium-based phosphate binders (CBPBs) is associated with lower osteoporosis risk, particularly within specific subgroups. This effect may be partially due to calcium supplementation, especially in users of active vitamin D analogs or non-users of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs).

There is controversy over whether DOACs may be more beneficial than warfarin in CKD/ESKD patients with VTE, and evaluation should be individualized.
