Summary: Building good health systems is an important objective for policy makers in any country. This study analyzes the correlation between health expenditures and health outcomes, and finds that per-capita total, out-of-pocket, and pooled health expenditures have a significant impact on health outcomes, with pooled expenditures being particularly influential. However, these financial parameters can only explain part of the variation in health outcomes, and individual country contexts must also be taken into account.

Summary: From an environmental and sustainable development perspective, the circular economy model is rarely implemented in developing countries like Bangladesh. This study aims to review the current scenario of the circular economy model in Bangladesh and its contribution to sustainable development. The research relies on descriptive analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, primarily gathered from secondary sources and supplemented with in-depth interviews of experts in the field. The study extensively discusses the overall environmental status of Bangladesh, the prospects, practices, and challenges of the circular economy model. While there are potential prospects for transitioning to a circular economy, the study reveals that its applicability in Bangladesh is limited, primarily confined to recycling processes in certain industries. The study further explores the barriers hindering the implementation of circular economy practices in Bangladesh, including policy, technical, and public participation issues. The findings of this paper can be valuable for policymakers in developing countries, particularly in Bangladesh, to further investigate this matter and provide insights for future researchers looking into the concept of circular economy in specific sectors and subsectors.

Summary: This review examines the main causes of foodborne illnesses in developing countries, with a particular focus on the transmission of antibiotic-resistant microbes. The findings reveal that women constitute the majority of street food vendors, who generally have a low level of education and lack knowledge of good hygiene practices. Poor hygiene practices and lack of facilities, such as potable water, were frequently identified as the main causes of food contamination. Enterobacteriaceae bacteria were the most common pathogens found in ready-to-eat street foods. High levels of multidrug resistance were reported in Enterobacteriaceae from several developing countries.

Summary: In developing countries, especially African countries, the lack of a national health information management strategy poses a threat to the performance of Health Information Systems (HIS). Most countries opt for a data warehouse approach supported by DHIS2, but lack alignment with national strategies. Rigorous upstream thinking and a coherent conceptual framework are needed to strengthen HIS governance.
