Summary: Evidence suggests that there is a connection between retail stores and food consumption. However, research on this topic is still scarce in low- and medium-income countries, where the food retail environment differs from that of high-income countries. Specifically, little is known about how convenience and small grocery stores, which provide immediate access to products, are associated with overall diet quality. This study aimed to assess the association between the density of convenience and small grocery stores and the diet quality of adults in Mexico City.

Summary: The study finds that young people's intentions towards a plant-based diet are influenced by factors such as health and environmental concerns, cultural and familial norms, peer influence, and lack of knowledge and convenience. Providing education and knowledge, as well as increasing accessibility to plant-based diets, can encourage and improve young people's understanding and intention to follow this dietary style.

Summary: This study examined the association between the availability of recreational cannabis dispensaries (RCDs) and storefront signage and cannabis use and risk perceptions. The findings suggest that the presence of storefront signage indicating the availability of cannabis and signs promoting health benefits of cannabis, particularly within 2-4 miles of one's home, is associated with increased cannabis use and reduced risk perceptions among adults in California, USA.

Summary: This study examined the associations between local cannabis retail outlet availability and neighborhood disadvantage with cannabis use and related risk factors among young adults. The results showed that living near cannabis retail outlets was associated with higher rates of cannabis use and easier access to cannabis. Additionally, neighborhood disadvantage was associated with more frequent cannabis use and greater acceptability of cannabis use.

Summary: The study found that participants living in the most deprived neighborhoods had a higher risk of all-cause mortality and prostate cancer-specific mortality. Therefore, neighborhood-level resources or health interventions are essential to improve survival among men with PCa. Further research should focus on understanding the mechanisms through which the neighborhood environment impacts mortality.
