Summary: This study aimed to assess which biomarkers can predict VTE or its complications in children. A total of 40 studies with 10,987 participants were included. Several candidate biomarkers showed promising results in predicting VTE in children, but further research is needed to validate the findings and address the discrepancies in the current literature.

Summary: This study identified 4 distinct phenotypes among patients with DVT, and assessed their relation to various outcomes. Risks were lowest in women using estrogen therapy and highest in patients with a cardiovascular risk profile. These findings have important implications for personalized clinical management.

Summary: Despite the increase in pediatric antithrombotic clinical trials, the standardized outcome definitions for pediatric VTE clinical trials have not been updated since 2011. The International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis organized a Task Force to update the outcome definitions based on recent trials and existing guidelines. Major updates include changes in efficacy outcomes and the inclusion of new bleeding assessments in safety outcomes.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the main drivers of complex care organization for compression therapy and identify targets for improvement. It includes interviews, stakeholder meetings, and surveys to collect data for the content of context-mechanism-outcome-configurations (CMOcs) important in compression therapy. Five main targets for improvement in compression care were identified.

Summary: This study found that a remote history of venous thrombosis (VT) is associated with an increased risk of VT in older individuals, providing valuable information for clinicians to advise patients on VT prevention.

Summary: Venous thromboembolism (VTE) is a common cardiovascular disorder that can be prevented through prophylaxis. Direct oral anticoagulants are effective and safe treatments with lower risk for bleeding. Postthrombotic syndrome is a common complication among patients with DVT and significantly impacts their quality of life.

Summary: A quarter of patients with CVT were diagnosed more than 10 days after symptom onset, with delayed diagnosis associated with isolated headache but not adverse clinical outcomes. Identifying factors associated with delayed diagnosis of CVT can inform future strategies for early detection.

Summary: The study found that RBF can reduce thrombus burden parameters and vein wall fibrosis and inflammation in mice on day 4 but not later. In the clinical study, PCDT demonstrated maximal benefits in improving quality of life and symptom scores for patients with symptom-onset-to-randomization timeframes of 4 to 8 days.

Summary: This nationwide cohort study in Sweden found that men with prostate cancer had a 50% increased risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) compared with men without prostate cancer during a 5-year follow-up period.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of D-dimer levels measured at the time of VTE diagnosis on the risk of recurrence in patients with a first-time VTE. The findings showed that patients with lower D-dimer levels at the time of VTE diagnosis had a lower risk of recurrence, suggesting that D-dimer levels measured at diagnosis can be used to identify patients at a low risk of recurrent VTE.

Summary: This study aims to assess the differences in clinical benefits, harms, and costs of stopping versus continuing anticoagulant therapy indefinitely for a first unprovoked venous thromboembolism (VTE). A probabilistic Markov model will be developed to estimate life-years, quality-adjusted life-years, costs, and incremental cost-effectiveness ratios. The results will be disseminated through conferences and a peer-reviewed journal.

Summary: HIV patients have a higher risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE), which is the third most common cardiovascular condition in this population. Understanding the epidemiology, pathophysiology, molecular mechanisms, and therapeutic interventions of VTE in HIV is crucial for optimizing treatment outcomes and balancing risks and benefits.

Summary: Patients with cancer have a higher risk of developing venous thromboembolism (VTE), which leads to poorer survival compared to cancer alone. This study aimed to investigate the impact of VTE on cancer patients' survival in a general population. The findings showed that cancer patients with VTE had a 3.4-fold higher risk of death compared to those without VTE, regardless of cancer type.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis of three epidemiological studies in Canada to estimate the national VTE incidence rate. The results showed a higher VTE incidence in females and the elderly, which was consistent with estimates from studies in other jurisdictions.
