Summary: Aging poses a major challenge to the development and growth of countries worldwide. This study identified subgroups of the elderly based on their quality of life, sleep quality, and common mental disorders, and examined the influence of demographic characteristics on subgroup membership. Three subgroups were identified: healthy, anxious with poor sleep quality, and unhealthy. Being female, living in urban areas, and illiteracy were found to increase the odds of belonging to certain subgroups. These results highlight the co-occurrence of health problems among a significant portion of the elderly population.

Summary: Childhood maltreatment has a significant impact on emotion dysregulation, with emotional abuse showing the strongest effect. Anxious attachment style may mediate the relationship between childhood maltreatment and non-adaptive cognitive emotion regulation strategies and emotion reactivity.

Summary: The study found that children born to mothers with perinatal depression were more likely to be diagnosed with ADHD, suggesting the need for increased interventions and screening efforts targeted towards this vulnerable population to reduce the adverse consequences of ADHD.

Summary: The study found a positive association between affiliate stigma and depression in caregivers of children with ADHD. Family support and self-esteem levels were negatively associated with this relationship, while child's internalizing problems and ADHD symptoms increased the association.

Summary: ADHD symptoms exacerbate the impact of procrastination and internalizing symptoms on emotional burden, but do not enhance the association between procrastination and internalizing symptoms. Procrastination should be the treatment target for individuals with ADHD and comorbid internalizing symptoms.

Summary: Hyperfocus and flow are intense concentration experiences associated with reduced perception of irrelevant stimuli and improved task performance. Hyperfocus has been historically seen as a symptom of ADHD, autism, or schizophrenia, while flow is regarded as an enjoyable experience in positive psychology. Recent studies suggest that hyperfocus and flow may be the same phenomenon viewed from different perspectives.

Summary: The study confirmed the two-correlated factor structure of CHT and found its correlations with different clinical symptoms. CHTQ total scores can discriminate patients from healthy controls, while the differences in CHTQ subscale scores among clinical groups are relatively small.

Summary: Sleep difficulties in children with ADHD are varied, with five types of sleep profiles identified. These profiles are associated with different clinical factors, suggesting the need for tailored interventions that consider the specific sleep difficulties experienced by children with ADHD and other clinical characteristics.

Summary: Subjective sleep disturbances are reported by humans with ADHD, but there were no consistent objective findings to support the inclusion of sleep problems in ADHD diagnostic criteria. Dogs can serve as a model for human ADHD and their sleep physiology can be measured using non-invasive methods. This study found that higher hyperactivity/impulsivity scores in dogs were associated with lower sleep efficiency and longer time awake during NREM sleep. However, there was no association between ADHD scores and slow-wave activity. These findings are similar to human studies and suggest that studying natural variations in dogs' hyperactivity/impulsivity can provide insights into the neural mechanisms of ADHD.

Summary: This study provides a systematic review and analysis of the effectiveness of electroencephalogram-based neurofeedback (EEG-NF) in treating the core symptoms of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adolescents/adults. The results suggest that EEG-NF can effectively improve inattention symptoms, but its effectiveness in reducing hyperactivity/impulsivity remains inconclusive.

Summary: This study examined the diagnostic indicators, clinical characteristics, and functional impairment associated with adult ADHD using electronic medical records and self-report measures. The results showed a significant difference in prevalence of ADHD between self-report screening and medical records. ADHD was found to contribute to functional impairment even when controlling for other psychiatric comorbidities.

Summary: The study found that offspring of mothers with anxiety and comorbid anxiety and depressive symptoms have an increased risk of ADHD symptoms in late adolescence, while there is no such risk among offspring of mothers with depressive symptoms alone. Early screening and intervention for offspring with maternal anxiety and comorbid anxiety and depressive symptoms are recommended.

Summary: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and depression symptoms are strongly correlated with suicidal thoughts and planning among adolescents. This study emphasizes the importance of recognizing worthlessness for suicide prevention in adolescents with ADHD and supports previous findings that depression and anxiety symptoms mediate the relationship between ADHD and suicidal thoughts and planning. The comorbidity of ADHD with depression and GAD and their impact on suicidal thoughts and planning is also highlighted.

Summary: This study conducted a meta-analysis to investigate the association between ADGRL3 gene variants and ADHD susceptibility in children and adults, finding significant correlation in children but not in adults. The results suggest that ADGRL3 gene is predominantly associated with childhood ADHD.

Summary: Inattention is a key symptom of ADHD, but the mechanisms underlying it are unclear. More specific approaches are needed to link disruptions in cognitive performance with ADHD behaviors. A pilot study found that even typically developing children did not maximally extract and combine information to maximize rewards in a cognitive task targeting attention selection mechanisms.
