Summary: The study found that high-intensity physical exercise did not universally enhance the outcome of CBT, but higher levels of physical fitness improvement seem to aid in symptom change during CBT. Therefore, future research and clinical practice might consider more individually tailored exercise programs.

Summary: Perinatal anxiety is a common mental health issue with detrimental effects, and this study aimed to identify factors influencing treatment outcomes. Predictors of treatment attrition included being pregnant (rather than postpartum), comorbid depression, and higher pre-treatment anxiety symptoms. Among treatment completers, older maternal age was associated with more sessions completed. Overall, anxiety symptoms reduced significantly post-treatment. Comorbid depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, and multiple comorbid diagnoses were associated with higher overall anxiety scores. Women with health anxiety showed greater reduction in anxiety post-treatment. These findings are crucial in informing clinicians about enhancing treatment completion and effectiveness for perinatal populations.

Summary: This systematic review evaluates the effect of broadly defined cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) in psychiatric patients. Ten randomized-controlled trials were included, and the results suggest that BDNF levels may be considered as an indicator of cognitive function outcomes in psychotherapy, but no correlation was observed for mindfulness-based practices aimed at reducing stress or improving quality of life.

Summary: In this study, topic modeling was applied to written assignment texts from internet-delivered cognitive behavioral therapies (iCBT) for generalized anxiety disorder. The results revealed several topics that were associated with treatment response. The findings suggest that topic modeling is a valuable method for extracting clinically relevant information from text data in iCBT research.

Summary: A randomized controlled trial found that offering a one-day cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)-based workshop for postpartum depression (PPD) sufferers can significantly reduce depression and anxiety symptoms, improve the mother-infant relationship, and be cost-effective. This intervention could represent a perinatal-specific option that can treat larger numbers of individuals and be integrated into stepped care approaches at reasonable cost.
