Summary: The study evaluated the feasibility of an intensive prospective data monitoring method for identifying precipitating conditions for migraine occurrence in children. The data sampling approach involving ambulatory sensors and real-time reporting was generally acceptable to most youth with migraine, but reliability in acquiring data from participants' own phones was suboptimal. Further refinement of these data sampling methods may enable novel ways of predicting and preventing migraine episodes in youth.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of gastrointestinal symptoms and post-COVID-19 disorders of gut-brain interaction among hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The results showed that patients with COVID-19 had higher rates of gastrointestinal symptoms on hospital admission and lower rates of constipation and hard stools at 12 months post-infection compared to the control group. Additionally, the rate of irritable bowel syndrome was significantly higher in patients with COVID-19 than in controls.

Summary: This study investigated the reciprocal relationships between real-time gambling cravings, self-efficacy, and gambling behavior, and the moderating role of gambling, mental health, and addiction-related variables. The findings suggest that gambling cravings predict gambling episodes, gambling self-efficacy is related to gambling duration, and craving self-efficacy predicts gambling expenditure. Moderation analyses revealed various interactions among the variables, indicating the importance of real-time gambling interventions for vulnerable individuals.

Summary: The study examined the impact of worry and positive experiences on anxiety and controllability in individuals with GAD, revealing that worry and positive episodes have different effects on anxiety level and controllability. The study also found significant within-person variability in anxiety and controllability, suggesting that individuals with GAD experience fluctuations in these factors.

Summary: This article evaluates the evidence that targeted pathophysiological mechanisms and customized treatments can be an alternative approach to treating patients with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). The authors conducted a literature review on the mechanisms and treatments of IBS, identifying various noninvasive clinical tests that can assess the underlying mechanisms responsible for symptom generation. These mechanisms include rectal evacuation disorders, abnormal transit, visceral hypersensitivity or hypervigilance, bile acid diarrhea, sugar intolerances, barrier dysfunction, the microbiome, immune activation, and chemicals released by these mechanisms. The authors also recognized the basic molecular mechanisms contributing to these pathophysiologies, offering opportunities for interventions with medications targeted at specific food components, receptors, and potentially the microbiome. Although the evidence supporting interventions for each mechanism varies, the current state-of-the-art allows for a shift from symptom-based treatment to individualized treatment guided by pathophysiology and clinically identified biomarkers.

Summary: The present study aimed to describe and examine the validity of iBehavior, a smartphone-based electronic ecological momentary assessment (eEMA) tool, for assessing and tracking behavior change in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). The results showed that iBehavior was feasible and showed evidence of convergent validity with traditional rating scales. The study concluded that iBehavior could be a valuable tool for measuring behavioral outcomes in IDDs.

Summary: Mobile applications have become increasingly popular in healthcare, providing new possibilities for data collection and insights into diseases. Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) is a commonly used research method that aims to assess phenomena with ecological validity. TrackYourTinnitus (TYT) is an EMA-based mobile crowdsensing platform that helps predict the presence of tinnitus based on related dimensions captured in the app. Using machine learning techniques, the presence of tinnitus was predicted with up to 78% accuracy and an AUC of up to 85.7%.

Summary: The study found that higher than average levels of momentary stress within children significantly predicted lower levels of subsequent physical activity in the following 15, 30, and 60 minutes, while between-subjects stress was not significantly associated with subsequent physical activity levels. This suggests that within-day fluctuations in stress may act as a barrier for children engaging in physical activity.

Summary: This literature review examines the use of cluster analysis in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) patients. It reveals that IBS can be classified into different subgroups based on various factors. However, the number of clusters varies across studies due to methodological heterogeneity. The research further explores the clinical symptoms, rectal perception, immunological findings, and microbial composition of IBS.

Summary: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a disorder characterized by altered gut-brain interaction and dysfunction of the brain-gut-microbiota axis. Prior studies have shown significant impairments in the health-related quality of life of patients with IBS. Resilience, as a psychosocial ability, plays a crucial role in promoting health and enhancing stress response.

Summary: Anhedonia is a core symptom of depression that predicts worse treatment outcomes. Dysfunction in neural reward circuits is thought to contribute to anhedonia. This study examined whether laboratory-based assessments of anhedonia and reward-related neural function were associated with adolescents' subjective affective experiences in daily life, and found that there was a relationship between them.

Summary: This study used data from a general population young adult EMA study and fitted dynamic structural equation models to explore potential predictors of missing the next prompt. The results suggest that higher levels of stress, overall negative affect, and the specific negative affective state of 'upset' at a given prompt predict a greater likelihood of missing the next prompt.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the awareness and beliefs of the general population regarding Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). It was conducted in the Aseer Region of Saudi Arabia, using a structured self-administered questionnaire. The results showed that the majority of participants were aware of IBS and had accurate knowledge about its etiology, symptoms, risk factors, prognosis, and management. It is recommended to conduct awareness-raising programs to improve public knowledge about IBS and reduce functional disabilities and their impact on life.
