Summary: This review summarizes existing literature on interventions to enhance medication adherence for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients and their effectiveness. Multicomponent interventions have achieved the greatest success in promoting medication adherence among IBD patients. Future research should focus on a multidisciplinary approach to design multi-component interventions to optimize treatment adherence and enhance long-term clinical outcomes.

Summary: This study systematically reviewed the parental factors associated with medication adherence among children and adolescents with psychiatric disorders. It found that parents' socioeconomic background, family living status and functioning, parents' perception and attitude towards medication, and parents' mental health status are significant factors that influence medication adherence in this population.

Summary: This study found that medication non-adherence is common among older adult stroke survivors in China and is associated with educational levels, total prescribed drugs per day, beliefs about medication, and health literacy scores.

Summary: Poor medication adherence is common in children with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in China, with forgetting to take medication being the main barrier. Longer disease duration may act as a risk factor for medication non-adherence, while higher parental knowledge about the disease may act as a protective factor.

Summary: This study investigated the medication adherence among patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in China and analyzed the influencing factors. The results showed poor medication adherence, especially among patients taking oral medication, those taking medications with a high frequency, and those with a low understanding of the disease. To improve medication adherence, medical staff should pay attention to individual patient factors, simplify medication regimens, and formulate effective coping strategies for drug management support.

Summary: We have developed a protocol for systematically reviewing and conducting a meta-analysis on the factors associated with nonadherence to antidepressants in depressive patients over the age of 18. We will search multiple databases for relevant articles and include those that meet the eligibility criteria until October 2022. The extracted data will be examined and included in the systematic review, followed by a meta-analysis of the factors associated with non-adherence.

Summary: This systematic review synthesized 50 studies on medication adherence trajectories among patients with chronic diseases and identified influencing factors. The medication adherence trajectories were categorized into six types: adherence, non-adherence, decreasing adherence, increasing adherence, fluctuating adherence, and moderate adherence. Various patient-related, healthcare team and system-related, socioeconomic, condition-related, and therapy-related factors were found to influence medication adherence trajectories, with marital status and prior medication adherence behavior having moderate evidence of an effect. Healthcare providers should be aware of these diverse trajectories and take appropriate measures to improve medication adherence patterns.

Summary: A systematic review showed that patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have a higher risk of adverse cardiovascular outcomes, especially in women. The mortality rate, myocardial infarction rate, and cardiovascular event rate were found to be higher in IBD patients.

Summary: There is increasing evidence of higher prevalence of sarcopenia in IBD patients due to increased muscle atrophy. This systematic review aimed to estimate the prevalence of sarcopenia in IBD patients, investigate its impact on patients, and assess the effectiveness of nutritional interventions. The review included 35 studies and found that over one third of adult IBD patients have myopenia or pre-sarcopenia, and nearly a fifth have sarcopenia. Myopenic IBD is associated with increased risk of therapy failure, postoperative complications, low bone mineral density (BMD), and potential risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Personalized nutrition plans may improve muscle mass in IBD patients.

Summary: Poor adherence to osteoporosis treatment leads to lower bone mineral density and higher fracture rates. Reliable and practical measurement tools are needed to assess medication adherence. This systematic review aimed to identify osteoporosis medication adherence measurement tools and evaluate their applicability.

Summary: This study analyzed 17 trials with 1127 patients and found that oral Vitamin D supplementation effectively increased serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D concentration and decreased C-reactive protein levels, but did not have a significant impact on erythrocyte sedimentation rate, disease activity index, and relapse rate in IBD patients. These findings suggest that oral Vitamin D supplementation could be a safe therapeutic strategy for managing IBD.

Summary: Monogenic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) cases have diverse clinical features and limited treatment options. Early identification and understanding of the characteristics of genes and underlying disease processes in monogenic IBD are important for effective management.
