Summary: This study investigated the effect of synbiotic supplementation on hypothyroid patients through a double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial. The results showed that a 10-week synbiotic supplementation had no significant effect on thyroid stimulating hormone and free thyroxine, but it improved blood pressure and quality of life.

Summary: This study indicates that a synbiotic approach using Bifidobacterium animalis lactis and fructo-oligosaccharides can significantly improve gastrointestinal health and reduce inflammation in middle-aged individuals. While the treatment did not impact mood, quality of life, or gut microbiota composition, it did lead to a significant decrease in plasma proinflammatory cytokines after 30 days of supplementation.

Summary: In patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), the use of licogliflozin led to reductions in serum alanine aminotransferase levels, suggesting it could be a potential therapeutic option. However, further studies are needed to validate these findings and evaluate its combination with other drugs.

Summary: Chronic inflammatory enteropathy (CE) is a common cause of persistent gastrointestinal signs and intestinal inflammation in dogs. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the synbiotic-IgY supplement on clinical signs, inflammatory indices, and mucosal microbiota in dogs with CE. Results indicated that dogs administered the supplement showed decreased levels of inflammatory markers, increased numbers of beneficial bacteria, and decreased numbers of harmful bacteria, suggesting a beneficial effect of the supplement on dogs with CE.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a multispecies probiotics mixed with fructooligosaccharides on body composition, antioxidant status, and gut microbiome composition in overweight and obese individuals. The results showed that synbiotic supplementation led to a significant reduction in waist circumference and body fat percentage, as well as improvements in antioxidant capacity and gut microbiota composition. Therefore, multispecies synbiotic supplementation could be a beneficial strategy for improving body composition, antioxidant status, and gut microbiome composition in overweight and obese subjects.

Summary: This review examines the relationship between bile acids and the gut microbiome in Crohn's disease and discusses potential new treatment options. Current research suggests that the dysregulated microbiota, bile acid metabolism, and mucosal immune system interact, leading to inflammatory responses in Crohn's disease. Targeting these areas may offer new therapeutic approaches.
