Summary: This study found that Emotion-Based Decision-Making may be a useful predictor of harmful consequences of student drinking over time. Students with higher levels of EBDM experienced a significantly increased total frequency of consequences over three years, without differences in trajectory between high and low students on this construct. Participants with higher levels of EBDM experienced a significantly greater number of unique consequences at all time points, but these consequences increased at a significantly slower rate than individuals lower on this construct.

Summary: The study investigated the impact of family history on binge drinking among college students, finding that attentional ability plays a positive role in reducing binge drinking, especially among individuals with a family history. Interventions targeting attentional ability may help prevent binge drinking issues, particularly in high-risk populations with familial risk.

Summary: This study clarified the relationship between exercise participation and depressive symptoms among college students by examining the pathways and effects of the behavioral inhibition and activation systems. The results showed that exercise participation was negatively correlated with depressive symptoms and positively correlated with reward responsiveness, drive, and fun seeking. Exercise participation had direct and indirect effects on depressive symptoms, with drive and fun seeking mediating this relationship. Encouraging exercise participation and enhancing sensitivity to behavioral activation strategies and reward information could play a significant role in preventing and alleviating depressive symptoms among college students.

Summary: This study examined the sexual health of college students with ADHD and found that they had more sexual partners, lower condom use, and higher rates of condomless sex while drinking compared to their non-ADHD peers. College students with ADHD also reported higher rates of sexually transmitted infection diagnoses, unplanned pregnancies, and emergency contraception use. Alcohol use, binge drinking, and cannabis use moderated the relationship between ADHD and sexual health.

Summary: This study proposes a moderated mediation model based on Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) to investigate the relationship between work values and career decision-making (CDM), the mediating role of career decision-making self-efficacy (CDMSE), and the moderating effect of career goals. The results show that there are significant differences in CDM performance among college students of different genders and grades. CDMSE partially mediates the relationship between work values and career decision-making, and career goals moderate the relationship between CDMSE and CDM.

Summary: This study examines the relationship between the use of protective behavioral strategies (PBS) and experiencing blackouts. The results show that overall use of PBS is associated with decreased odds of blacking out. However, the association varies depending on the type of PBS being used. Strategies that focus on limiting or slowing consumption are protective against blackouts, while those related to serious harm reduction are not.

Summary: In this study, the Ultimatum Game and electroencephalograms were used to investigate the cognitive and emotional processes in economic decision-making between high and low leadership level college students. The results showed that low leadership level individuals were more likely to accept offers from a computer under unfair conditions, and had a different brain response compared to high leadership level individuals. This suggests that emotional management abilities may contribute to the differences between high and low leadership groups.

Summary: Tourette syndrome (TS) and its comorbidities are associated with risky behavior, but it is unclear if this translates to a general attitude towards risk. This study found that impaired evaluation of risk and ambiguity in TS was not related to TS itself, but rather to the presence of comorbidities.

Summary: This meta-analysis examines the acute effects of alcohol on response inhibition and identifies moderators of this effect. The results show that acute alcohol impairs response inhibition, with larger effects seen in studies involving higher levels of breath alcohol concentration and specific response inhibition conditions. These findings enhance our understanding of the neurobehavioral mechanism underlying alcohol-related impulsivity and impaired control over consumption.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the rate of persistent SUD and its predictors among adolescents in addiction treatment, focusing on DSM-5 SUD patients. A total of 420 youths aged 16 to 22 will be included in a multi-center prospective cohort design, with assessments conducted at baseline, end of treatment, and 2 and 4 years post-baseline to predict SUD outcome. There is a lack of long-term prospective studies on the course of SUD in adolescents in addiction treatment, and this study aims to fill this gap by providing insights into determinants and consequences of persistent SUD among high-risk adolescents during the critical transition from adolescence to young adulthood.

Summary: This study compares the effectiveness and treatment costs of specialized psychological treatment versus regular treatment for adult clients with anorexia nervosa. The results indicate that CBT-E is not superior in terms of remission, but it is better in terms of weight regain. The economic evaluation suggests that CBT-E generates better health gain, but at additional costs. This study contributes to understanding the effectiveness and treatment costs of psychological treatments for adults with anorexia nervosa in routine practice.

Summary: This study aimed to explore the perspectives of psychiatric outpatients and therapists in a forensic setting on the use and implementation of the Sense-IT biocueing app in aggression regulation therapy. The findings showed a positive attitude from both groups towards incorporating the biocueing intervention into therapy. Various specific barriers and facilitators were identified at different levels, with technical issues being the primary concern.

Summary: This study tested the effectiveness of a digital intervention (ICan) compared to educational cannabis information in reducing cannabis use. The findings showed that ICan was more effective in reducing the grams of cannabis used over 3 months, but not in reducing the number of cannabis use days at 6-month follow-up. Both interventions maintained reductions in cannabis use between 3 and 6 months' follow-up.

Summary: This study compared the activation of the striatum during reward anticipation between patients with alcohol use disorder (AUD) and gambling disorder (GD) using functional MRI. The results showed hypoactivation of the reward system in AUD patients compared to healthy controls. However, the study did not support the hypothesis that addiction-related cues explain striatal dysfunction.
