Summary: This study compared prescription trends between single-tablet regimens (STRs) and multiple-tablet regimens (MTRs) for treatment-naive patients with HIV/AIDS following the approval of new STRs. The results showed a significant increase in the use of STRs among patients after the approval, with most treatment-naive patients being prescribed STRs in 2018. Additionally, there was a time lag for prescription trends in non-metropolitan hospitals compared to metropolitan cities. The data provide valuable insights for evaluating national ART regimen prescription patterns.

Summary: This study compares the efficacy and safety of DOR + TDF+3TC/FTC with traditional triple therapies in treatment-naive HIV-1-positive adults. The results showed that at 48 weeks, DOR + TDF+3TC/FTC exhibited superior virological suppression compared to some other regimens, while being similar in terms of adverse events. The regimen also performed better in terms of severe adverse events and drug-related adverse events.

Summary: The presence of drug-resistant viral variants (DRVs) with the M184V mutation decreases over time in HIV DNA, but it persists more frequently in patients with longer treatment experience and past replication under 3TC/FTC.

Summary: This study compared the long-term virological response to antiretroviral therapy in Romanian patients infected with HIV. The results showed that DRV/c was more effective in suppressing the viral load compared to DRV/r in subtype F HIV-1 infected patients. Additionally, a small number of patients exhibited resistance to therapy and developed viral mutations.

Summary: This large multi-cohort study indicates high effectiveness of elvitegravir- or dolutegravir-based first-line ART in routine practice across Europe. Factors such as baseline viral load and CD4 cell count can affect the treatment outcomes.

Summary: The attachment inhibitor fostemsavir + optimized background therapy (OBT) demonstrated durable virologic and immunologic responses with no new safety concerns in heavily treatment-experienced (HTE) adults failing their current antiretroviral regimen through 240 weeks, supporting its use as a key therapeutic option for HTE individuals with multidrug-resistant HIV-1.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence of doravirine-associated drug resistance mutations in HIV patients in Botswana and found that doravirine-associated mutations were rare in treatment-naive patients but more common in those who failed non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) treatment.

Summary: Initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) at the first specialist appointment without baseline laboratory data does not reduce the efficacy or safety of treatment. It leads to rapid virological control and high retention rates in HIV care at 48 weeks.

Summary: This study in Uganda compared the effectiveness of treatment monitoring using only immunologic and clinical criteria versus adding viral load monitoring. The findings suggest that as the duration of ART exposure increases, viral load monitoring becomes critical for early detection of treatment failure.

Summary: This study investigated the prevalence, risk factors, treatment response, and neurosyphilis in people with HIV receiving combination antiretroviral therapy (cART) for latent syphilis infection. The results showed a higher prevalence of latent syphilis in men and a reduction in disease activity during the latent stage. Routine cerebrospinal fluid analysis contributed little to the diagnosis of asymptomatic neurosyphilis and the treatment success of latent syphilis. Doxycycline (DOXY) can be used as an alternative to benzathine penicillin G (BPG), and cART can improve serologic response to latent syphilis treatment.

Summary: Based on a systematic review and meta-analysis, third-line antiretroviral therapy has shown good efficacy for adults living with HIV/AIDS. However, there is still insufficient evidence to determine the most effective treatment combinations due to potential high risk of bias.

Summary: This study evaluates the prevalence of HIV-1 mutation V179D/E and its impact on the virological response to the first-line efavirenz-based regimen in ART-naive patients in Shanghai, China. The study finds a high prevalence of V179D/E and suggests that the efavirenz-based regimen may not be suitable for patients with this mutation, especially those with a high baseline viral load.

Summary: The study found that the prevalence of anxiety, depression, and sleep disturbances decreased significantly after 12 months of EFV treatment, indicating a positive impact on improving neuropsychiatric adverse events. Additionally, risk factors such as low education level, low income, unemployment, divorce, and WHO III/IV stages were associated with severe neuropsychiatric disorders.

Summary: The study found a low prevalence of TDR HIV in China over the last two decades. However, the rate of TDR HIV has been increasing since 2010, with persistent circulation of drug resistance mutations and expansion of drug resistance reservoirs, potentially compromising the efficacy of antiretroviral therapy programs.
