Good response to lopinavir/ritonavir-containing antiretroviral regimens in antiretroviral-naive HIV-2-infected patients

摘要

In 29 antiretroviral-naive HIV-2-infected patients starting lopinavir/ritonavir-containing regimen, the median CD4 cell count change from baseline (142 cells/mu l) was +71 cells/mu l at week 24 and +132 cells/mu l at week 96. Seventeen (59%) patients had a CD4 cell count increase of at least 50 cells/mu l and undetectable HIV-2 RNA at week 24 and were considered as responders to treatment. This sustained elevation of CD4 cell count in the first 2 years of combination antiretroviral therapy shows the potential for lopinavir/ritonavir regimens as first-line therapy in HIV-2 infection.

Summary: This study compared the long-term virological response to antiretroviral therapy in Romanian patients infected with HIV. Additionally, a small number of patients exhibited resistance to therapy and developed viral mutations.

Summary: The study in ART-naive HIV-1-infected adults in Guangdong, China found that dual therapy with LPV/r plus 3TC showed long-term non-inferior therapeutic efficacy, low drug resistance, good safety, and tolerability compared to the first-line triple-therapy regimen. Subgroup analysis showed that high viremia and genotype BC did not affect primary endpoints, while patients with genotype AE showed a higher mean increase in CD4(+) cell count with dual therapy. No secondary HIV resistance was observed in either group, and more patients in the TT group discontinued the regimen due to adverse events compared to the DT group.

The results showed that there was no significant difference in treatment efficacy between dolutegravir and darunavir, but dolutegravir had a higher risk of central nervous system toxicity, while darunavir was more likely to lead to treatment simplification.

Cost-Efficacy of Antiretroviral Regimens Recommended in Treatment-Naive HIV-Infected Adults. A single Center Experience

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate the prescription trends of combined antiretroviral therapy (cART) and the cost-effectiveness of different regimens in treatment-naive patients in an infectious diseases department. Over the period of 2015 to 2019, a total of 181 HIV-infected patients were diagnosed and initiated cART treatment. The proportion of patients receiving INSTI-based regimens increased from 2015 to 2018, reaching 81% by the end of 2019. Among the evaluated INSTI-based regimens, ABC/3TC/DTG and TAF/FTC/EVG/c showed similar efficacy and relative cost-effectiveness.

Summary: There is heterogeneity in subjective perception of cognitive changes, despite similar objective cognitive trajectories. This perception is explained by both AD-related and, more robustly, non-AD-related factors. These findings deepen our understanding of the multifaceted nature of subjective cognitive complaints in individuals at risk for dementia and highlight the importance of considering a range of factors when interpreting cognitive complaints.
