Summary: This study aimed to explore the relationship between exposure to PAEs during early pregnancy and gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) in rural pregnant women. Through urine sample collection and matching analysis, it was found that the concentrations of certain PAEs metabolites were associated with GDM, and it was recommended that pregnant women reduce the use of packaged food and cosmetics to reduce the risk of GDM.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the association between b-blocker therapy and mortality in patients with sepsis. The findings showed that long-acting b-blockers were associated with improved 28- and 90-day mortality in patients with sepsis, while short-acting b-blockers did not reduce mortality in sepsis.

Summary: This study examines how specific medical procedures may affect treatment effect estimation in propensity score-adjusted comparative studies and proposes a solution. The analysis shows that excluding the immediate pre-exposure time can reduce the risk of including potential instrumental variables and bias in the study.

Summary: This study analyzed data of older adults aged 65 and above in China and found that older adults living alone had a significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality compared to those living with families or in nursing homes. These findings suggest the need for multiple approaches to meet the needs of senior care services.

Summary: HBV infection leads to poor glycemic control in patients with T2DM, and the association between HBV infection and T2DM treatment is still unclear. In this study, analysis of 330 hospitalized patients with HBV infection and T2DM showed that HBV infection is associated with poor glycemic control, longer hospitalization, and abnormal liver function. Moreover, higher HBV infection levels are associated with worse glycemic control, while receiving anti-HBV therapy and insulin treatment are significant factors for glycemic control. Early management of HBV infection may contribute to better clinical outcomes in patients with HBV infection and T2DM.

Summary: IMP-type carbapenemase, found in various Gram-negative bacteria, has been increasingly detected worldwide. This study found that IMP-CRE may not contribute to worsened clinical outcomes compared to CSE, and identified risk factors for CRE isolation including gastrostomy, previous intravenous therapy, hemodialysis, and broad-spectrum antimicrobial exposure. Fluoroquinolone and aminoglycosides were found to be potentially useful antibiotics for IMP-CRE infections.

Summary: This study evaluated multiple treatment failures to modern antiretroviral therapy in HIV-infected individuals and found that approximately 4% of them were difficult to treat. The difficult to treat group, compared to the non-difficult to treat group, was characterized by older age, higher prevalence of AIDS, lower CD4+ cell count, and higher risk of treatment failure.
